I experience the same download speeds from GOG and ZP using my web browser, which is typically 4 MB. However, Galaxy usually provides speeds of 40 MB or more.

cgr37712: small update, its actually the same speed if I download using the GOG Galaxy client, its about 9 MB at most. again,
Is that 9 MBytes/s or 9 Mbits/s?

By default, web browsers seem to show the speed as MBytes/s, I don't recall if Galaxy does too.

cgr37712: steam downloads at around 89MB. downloading any new game from GOG is becoming a hassle.
Is that 89 MBytes/s or 89 Mbits/s?

By default, Steam seems to show the download speed as Mbits/s, at least in the Library view.

1 MByte = 8 Mbits.

What kind of result do you get for your internet speed at https://www.speedtest.net/ ?
That result will be Mbits/s so when you divide it by 8, you get the theoretical max you can get in MBytes/s.
