Got me Wasteland, Rogue Legacy and Race the Sun.

Will there be more? Who knows.

I'm making eyes at SOTS the Pit but I doubt I'd really play it for a while, backlog n' all that.

Buenro-games: I can't buy so many roguelikes at a time since I am not really into them, I'll wait to buy Spelunky later. And since I own the entire Ultima and M&M series, I guess nothing for me unless I get a lucky box tomorrow, today was Thief 2 and I own it.

So far on the sale: Gabriel Knight:sotf

Lucky lucky...
GK:SotF is one of the all-time great adventure games, so even if you got nothing else that game alone would be worth it (bit of a fanboy bias here :-) ).

Hmmm, I had it way back in my backlog but those seem like two very good endorsements. Guess might as well check it out now. : D

Thanks yoy both.
Yeah Sword of the Stars!
GOG really dropped the ball on this sale. Only one "special deal" a day which likely includes something you already own, daily packs that you need to get all the games in order to get discounts, ...

Besides the free Fallouts to draw in new users (because face it, 99% of GOGers already had those), there's nothing to see here.

Pica-Ludica: Got "The Swapper" for 4.99$ as my Daily Surprise, and I've never even heard of this game. However, it has a 5-star rating on GOG and some stellar but rather generic reviews, so I was wondering whether someone would be willing to pitch it? In what way is it different from and/or better/more unique than other puzzle platformers that would warrant a purchase? (Considering that I like my puzzle platformers to be more bright and colorful, like Braid or Trine)
I can talk about "The Swapper" the whole night if you want ;) I got it yesterday from my friend and man, I had a blast playing it. First of all - ignore tags. It's not an action game for Pete's sake! There is no action whatsoever there. Absolutely nothing is time dependent. Everything is up to you - how fast you can solve those puzzles. I would say it's a puzzle game in 2D platformer-like environment. I said that because it doesn't feel right to call it platformer game. There are no difficult jumps, no single-pixel-precision, nothing like that. Sometimes it happened that I fell and died but it was so because I was thinking too hard about the plot and didn't realize it's time to do something to avoid death ;) My bad ;) And yes, the plot is important. If I wrote here about it it wouldn't seem to be very original. But the way it's served in the game makes it very intriguing. It put me in a reflective mood and just a few games manage to do that. 95% of the game is about puzzles and the creepy, dark story and I found it great that there was no action/typical platformer part. I can, however, imagine that if somebody doesn't like puzzles too much he/she won't enjoy the game.

CarrionCrow: I've already got Might and Magic 1-8, 9 is supposed to be a mess and incompatible with Windows 8 to boot
GOG have updated the installer to fix the color issue but you'll still need the Might and Magic IX fullscreen border fix; after that it works fine on Windows 8 and newer.
I own yesterday's promo, today's promo and whichever tomorrow's is. Is owning a little more than a third of the catalogue really that detrimental?

To date they have been only 2/5 of the daily surprise that I already owned, I guess I've been lucky.

And you do not have to buy everything in the recommended deal.

As for them dropping the ball on bundles that you have to buy everything you don't own to get the full special price (Community deal): That's not the first time they do it and it seems to be that they would stop doing it if people didn't vote for it with their dollars.

As far as I'm concerned it's a great sale, people who don't like some of the 3 parts can just pretend they are not there.

I own nearly 50% of the catalog and purchased 14 games and dlc in this sale so far.

Yes, GOG could make much more money if they would offer me games in "special deal" I don't have already ... But as every day I get an offer I already own...
Very, very bad :(

FoxySage: How fortunately unlucky. Got Thief Gold in the daily surprise but i already got it.
You might want to get in touch with TimeCrash2; he's very interested in it and maybe you two can strike a deal.

Here's how I look at it - okay, I've got my wishlist, my top priority items that I'd love to get above anything else. If you can get those piecemeal in a recommended sale? Awesome. Also, if you find one in a mystery present, that's great. For bundles, it's priority items versus what my brain is calling tag-along items. I got a bundle that had Syndicate 1 & 2, and Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2, all priority items. Typically those would have run me 24 dollars, but instead I paid 16 and got 6 items that look good as well for essentially free. Can't complain too hard about that. And of course we've all got the underlying "Holy crap, nearly everything is half price!" part, so even if every single bundle, deal and mystery present all sucks, you should still be able to make out like a bandit. Had 6 games 3 months ago and now I have 93 due to GOG's sales being so ridiculously good. Sure as hell isn't because I'm rich and can afford to drop 60 bucks at a time on "super-awesome-badass-frequently-mediocre-sometimes-complete-crap AAA" games.
At least I still keep access to my games in GOG after they yank them... :D

"Sometimes movie executives make decisions so obviously bone-headed, it leaves one wondering if these people consult actual humans before making product decisions. In this case, Disney has decided to yank certain movies off the shelf right in time for Christmas. If the House of Mouse was simply opting not to sell movies digitally, that would be one thing. What it’s actually doing is yanking those films out of your purchased library. Yes, if you’ve bought a Disney movie on Amazon Video, you may log in today and find it missing from your library. You didn’t think that you actually owned the digital videos that you bought, did you?"

Merry Christmas from Disney... lolol

They are saying now though it was a 'mistake', after the sh!tstorm of course, lolol

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.... :-O

Even with sales I did not acquire that many titles in that short a span, ever, in any of the GOG sales! Holy Smokes! I bow to you sir!

Merry Christmas indeed!

Never used the service, and glad after reading your post. Even if GOG followed this policy I would still be ahead just by virtue of downloading and backing up everything. To my knowledge one can never do that with films acquired digitally anywhere (legitimately).

Still, shame on Disney. While it is their right to do whatever they want with their IP, methinks they are getting away with too much.
