Austrobogulator: I understand why they do this (get in before the Steam sale...) but it still makes the sale significantly less interesting...

nijuu: I think its more the case of been a long time member, got most of the games you want... there is less interest in a given sale.... at least im starting to get there myself...
That makes two of us, though I think I am already there.

In fact, the thread is now more interesting to me than the sale.

During the insomnia sale, set amounts of items were placed at extremely low price. Once a title's number of items were depleted, then it'd go onto the next insanely low priced deal. Some games had a window of about 90 seconds before the set amount was sold and they moved onto the next. It ran for 5 days, 24 hours a day. If you wanted something badly enough, you had to stay up for it. You miss it, you're out of luck.

The downside was some titles were very slow movers... so u would be looking at hours in some cases (we all know the ones..) :/

When I'm 82, have Alzheimer's and can't remember my own name I'll still remember some of those. But setting a timer on slow movers could eliminate that entirely. All the speed, none of the lull.

I remember that. I also remember that it was a little hard to predict the time it would take some items (let alone the whule lot) to sell out. So it might be hard to keep it within a certain time limit without cutting it short when time runs out regatdless of whether everything planned for the event is sold out or not.
Besides, you spelled it "insomnia", not "Insomnia" so I was in doubt whether you were referring to the promo or its titular feature.

Overall, it seems average from the reviews. Some good elements, some bad. For two dollars, it's probably worth a shot.

Ok, so I had Surgeon Simulator on my wishlist as a low priority for the future and while it was on sale I didn't think I'd play it for a while so I figured I'd wait for a future sale instead...

Then I decided to watch the promo video on the GOG homepage for it:

Totally cracked me up, looks pretty funny... couldn't resist it after that. Dunno who that guy is but he did a pretty funny promo there GOG, which ultimately convinced me to buy the game. ;oP Anyhow, if anyone panned the game, watch the video if you haven't, the sense of humour in it is what did it for me. :)

For me it was other way around. I've never considered buying this game and the video confirmed my expectations - the game is not for me.

I have, however, a lot of fun watching him playing Theme Hospital. There are not so many rooms that benefit a lot from making them large. The perfect example is a staff room and yet he made it as small as possible :D And not only he hired just one doctor to operate three different rooms but he also managed to hire the lamest doctor ever :D I swear, similar mistakes happen to me all the time when I start playing any managerial game that I don't know yet. My first game is usually a test to see what's what...

Any opinions of Aquanox? (spell) I'm going to snag those Descent games because while I never liked the series it's been a LONG time since I played them and that was on a shit PC with no game pad so screw it, but I was curious about the Aqua games. I love Freespace but I'm not really good at controlling whole squadrons.
