I think that out of that list Legend of Grimrock is what I would jump for. While of course I have not played either Botanicula, Legend of Grimrock, or the Whispered World I just think Legend of Grimrock would be the best choice out of all of those.

It just looks like a fun dungeon crawler RPG, and I just think you would get more play time out of those then all the other ones on the list. Don't get me wrong, all of the games on this list i've played and really freaken love. Darwinia and Trine are great games, but I gotta say RPGs are just my favorite kind of game and I'm a real sucker for them.
I would say Legend of grimrock, it looks to be a very good game from the gameplay footage and releases like this will help further new indie games be released here.
Legend of Grimrock
It's a GOG in spirit. There's even a feature that the RPS Podcast mentioned recently.

It has PERMA-DEATH for the in-game mini map. You are able to turn it off but you are then unable to turn it back on. It even comes out with a personalized graph paper that you can print out to make your own maps.

This feature alone has me intrigued. Plus the 15 hour estimated play through means a hand crafted RPG of goodness.

Thanks!
Darwina

even if it is a short game, It's pretty unique and it's rather fun with it's strategy/action gameplay

good luck to everyone and thanks for the giveaway
I would go for Grimrock. If I had the spare cash, I would get it. I'm all for dungeon crawlers as I gotten into them a few years back. I'm big on RPG and lengthy games that give me my money's worth!

I have Darwina and Trine. Trine is ok, but I couldn't get into it. I have yet to touch Darwina.

Thanks for giveaway!
While I thoroughly enjoyed Machinarium, I'm going to have to recommend Trine. The puzzles are a lot of fun and I was able to play it with my girlfriend. One of us would control the movement and the other would control the character ability. It sounds silly but it was a lot of fun.
From these, I'd recommend Trine. Grimrock looks tempting, but who knows how it will turn out. Trine has already shown it's fun -- it plays a bit like The Lost Vikings, and depending on your preferred playstyle, you can make it both easy and challenging.
I recommend Machinarium, though you can't go wrong with any of the other games.

Machinarium will challenge you and charm you at the same . The music wonderful as is the artwork. As you work through the city and solve a variety of mechanical and item-based puzzles, you really become involved with the main character and the background story. It's an interesting contrast of emotions with a very downtrodden, mechanical world.

If you become stuck the game has an amazing hint system which requires to complete arcade mini games before unlocking the hints. This helps the player to only use the hints as a true last resort. The interface is quite intuitive using a mouse. Overall, it's one of the most unusual and polished adventure games I've ever played.
I would like to say Darwinia because I am a big fan of Introversion as they have always done some very innovative stuff on a small budget. I liked Darwinia because it was something completely different from other strategy games where you build a base then pump out milions of the same unit. Here, your goal is to save creatures that are arificial yet intelligent. Also, Darwinia isn't a resource hog like most newer games :D

PLease support Introversion so they can make more games :P
If you like p&c adventures you should give machinarium a try. Personally i think it´s simply
one of the most charming and entertaining adventures out there. My last playthrough is long ago and it still remember most of the screens and puzzles. That has to mean something!

You could try Samorost(2) for free, Amanita Design´s first Adventure, its short but it will give u some ideas how the storytelling works in their games. Someone before me already mentioned, that not a single word is spoken in the whole game. If i recall right thats also the case in Samorost(2).

Im curious if Botanicula will match the quality of Machninarium. It´s the same developer and my expectations are high.

If u enjoy Platform/Puzzle games more go with Trine, its brilliant.
My favorite in the list is Machinarium even though I'm not into point-n-click games since the early 2000s. This game is really inspired. Check the first few minutes here to know how it goes: http://youtu.be/wgAP5mWQB0c
This is akward because I haven't played any of the two games I'm recommending... all I can say they are the two I would get.

First Botanicula, see the trailers the other fellas have posted, the game is just so cute! And it comes from the brains of quickly-established-as-awesome-devs-of-adventure Amanita Design, who you might remember from delightful Machinarium and now internet classic Samorost.

Second, Legend of Grimrock. Like others are saying it tries to harken back to ye olden dungeon crawlers of yore, and apparently it succeeds and even has some merits of its own.
I've only played Trine, so can recommend only that one. It is quite fun, old school platformer with modern day graphics. The physics may be a little rough at times, but that's barely an issue.

The story is okay, for a platformer. The characters are quite different from each other, and considering that you'll be needing to use all three to complete the game, it doesn't feel repetitive.
Well I think you should buy Legend of Grimrock. I just saw the review of Totalbiscuit and it amazed me the quality of the graphics and lightining the games has as well as the mechanic appears to be very well done for a dungeon crawler and it seems to have a lot of puzzles and other nice things. If you like RPGs and especially dungeons crawlers, for me it appears that this game will be a lot of fun and I think it will be a lot better when the mod community start to do quests, so longevity will be a sure thing.
From your list, Legend of Grimrock, of course:

- Eye of the Beholder reincarnation (at least in style)

- Party based RPG (James Taylor singing "You've Got a Friend")

- Tile-based, step-by-step movement (look ma, no simulator/motion sickness!)

- Dark and gritty environment (as can be seen in the screenshots)

- Minotaur (seriously I do not come across that many games with Minotaurs as playable race since Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer)

- Lizardman (probably an escapee from Flash Gordon's Planet Mongo)

- Insectoid (kind of reminds you of the good old days of playing Thri-kreen in Dark Sun series, don't you think?)

Need more reasons?
