HotfireLegend: the first game doesn't really feel like an RPG, it feels more like a rythm combat strategy game.
Well, i mean no disrespect, but calling a videogame an RPG or not is a very weak statement nowadays. It doesn't imply/guarantee any specific mechanics anymore. Between us, you may think than TW1 is less of an RPG than the 2, and in my book no Witcher videogame is a proper RPG, just a question of sensibilities (character creation and all). But I see your point, TW1 has less the TheElderSandbox vibe than the 2nd, I agree but .... HotfireLegend: Also, probably due to its age, the story isn't 'portrayed' as well as in TW2. Let's use the first cutscene upon entering the first village ...
The reason I love the witcher 1 is how the story, through the messy journal, sorts itself out. The witcher 2 is somewhat more straightforward with a more cinematic approach. I completely understand the appeal though, the flow of TW2 is great, but I really prefer the 'investigation' approach of the first. Then, I found combat in the first witcher a bit more clever. HotfireLegend: It might seem like very minor things, but the differences between TW1 and TW2 are very profound to me.
I can understand that. My point is : don't assume that because TW2 has a lot of things made better than the first, people can't consider the first to be superior.
