If you can find it, I'd recommend Sim Theme Park (Theme Park World outside of the US). I had a lot of fun with that as a kid.

So did I. =) I had completely forgotten about it, thanks.
Two highly recommended Point & Click adventures that will certainly be enjoyed by children and grown ups alike:

*) Torin's Passage

*) Inherit the Earth

nightrunner227: I was speaking from experience. I originally got Scratches from them, and it wouldn't let me run it without opening a client akin to GMG's Capsule.
Which can be bypassed. But if you can't be bothered to say thanks then you frankly don't deserve help.

You were rude first, so don't get your panties in a bunch.

After I helped you and you demanded more on a point you were wrong on. And you wonder why? And the irony! Not saying thanks isn't? As I said, you've gotten far more than you deserve.

I asked about potential DRM, which I see as a perfectly legitimate question considering we're here.

And I told you. But had you taken a moment to verify for yourself you would already know it. Do you need me to read the posts for you too? You're going to miss a lot of opportunity in life if you need someone to tell you the road's clear before proceeding.

Guys? Seriously?
I have nephews in that age range, and they love these indie games I got in some bundles. All of them are puzzle games to some degree, with the last four being very physics-based.

Lume
Toki Tori
Fortix 2
Osmos
Nimbus
Max and the Magic Marker
Crayon Physics Deluxe

Unfortunately, a few of these are ridiculously expensive unless you can find them in a bundle.
