Emob78: which starting next week will be the only way to purchase their games.
Will it? I was under the impression that Origin was also a store, which will no longer sell physical media. UPlay still sells physical items, and should it decide to go digital only, you'll still be able to buy their dvds and/or physical items of brick and mortar stores.

So, you should still be able to buy EA games in physical media, but not through Origin.
Hmm, I noticed that the 'On the House' Origin page does not mention Securom:

https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/on-the-house-ANW.html

INTERNET CONNECTION, ORIGIN ACCOUNT, ACCEPTANCE OF PRODUCT AND ORIGIN END USER LICENSE AGREEMENTS (EULAS), AND INSTALLATION OF THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE (WWW.ORIGIN.COM/ABOUT) REQUIRED TO PLAY. YOU MUST BE 13+ TO ACCESS ONLINE SERVICES AND FEATURES. EA ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF SERVICE CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.EA.COM. PLEASE REVIEW EULAS AND ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES APPLICABLE TO SPECIFIC PRODUCTS AT WWW.EA.COM/1/PRODUCT-EULAS. ONLINE FEATURES AND SERVICES ARE NOT GUARANTEED. EA MAY RETIRE ONLINE FEATURES AND SERVICES (IF ANY) AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON WWW.EA.COM/1/SERVICE-UPDATES. EA MAY PROVIDE CERTAIN INCREMENTAL CONTENT AND/OR UPDATES FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE, IF AND WHEN AVAILABLE.

But the Dead Space page does:

https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/buy/dead-space/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition-ANW.html

INTERNET CONNECTION, ONLINE AUTHENTICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY. THIS PRODUCT INCLUDES SECUROM COPY PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY FROM SONY DADC. FOR MORE INFORMATION, INCLUDING HOW TO UNINSTALL SECUROM, VISIT WWW.SECUROM.COM.

Oh well, Securom is not getting onto my machine.

Leroux: And I think the Steam version doesn't use SecuRom, just Steamworks, right?

nadenitza: According to Enhanced Steam, there is no other DRM apart from Steamworks.
I once asked to the developer of Enhanced Steam why some games show that doesn't have DRM when in fact they have, and others who have inert or removed DRM still say that have them, if Enhanced Steam were using not an updated database or something. And his answer was that Enhanced Steam doesn't use a database, it only searches for known DRM in the texts (description and more information) of the store pages of the games, and warns about it in red if it finds something. If the information is wrong it's because the store page hasn't been updated or edited properly.

In that way, Enhanced Steam is not a trustworthy source for that kind of information. I prefer to use this page:

http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_3rd_Party_DRM_on_Steam

and for others games or versions not on Steam, this is also a good source:

Force gun ftw in this game!
another free awesome game :D
