keeveek: I don't give a damn. Diablo 3 is dead to me for a long time.
It's usually a mistake IMHO to try and resurrect series after the original people working on the project have left. I've just got this strange vibe that the people working on it didn't play it when Diablo was new and are missing the point.

I really and truly hope that I'm wrong about it as I'd like the game to succeed. But, realistically, it's been over a decade since the previous game was released and that often doesn't bode well.
I was truly disappointed with Starcraft 2. Well I am not Starcraft fan, but the insignificant number of changes they made through 6 years surprised me. Also, they haven't released any expansion they promised.

Starcraft 2 was meh to me, after all this time.

I can see that with Diablo 3 situation is almost the same. No improvements in gameplay whatsoever (unless you consider dumbing game down an improvement).

I would maybe try it, but I don't want to download 15 GB of data just to say "meh" again.

And I can't rely on other people's reviews or beta tests, because Diablo 3 is one of the most over hyped games in gaming history.
i got dissappointed...really REALLY bad i mean it's a good game and all but theres so much to complain about and i see no reference to earlier diablos and so forth...Diablo has been wow'd ;)
Think i'll have to give it another try upon it's release though i waited D3 for 6 years im not giving up so damn easily!
Related... can anybody from the UK help me get the game?

What I have in mind... I will preorder the game at your address, and when it arrives maybe then you can send it to me? I will pay you with a GOG / Steam game / whatever.

(also, price drop, preorder was 35 pounds, now it is 28)

It's actually fun, but it's definitely missing that old Blizzard North feel. I don't really know how to decribe it actually, it's just missing something.

So... I hate Diablo 2 with a passion. Would I hate Diablo 3 as well?

You might like Diablo 3 then, no i'm not trying to be rude or anything. I think alot of old school players were expecting D 2 but with much improved graphics.

So far no luck, I downloaded Friday morning but the beta wasn't live when I could play. When I got home (late) i logged in and played for 3 minutes knowing Saturday morning I would have time to play but now I just get timed out when I try to play. I guess maybe after work!
I just had an hour's play or so on European servers (which do NOT exist, according to Blizzard forums O_o ), then got disconnected, and can't rejoin.

US servers just say "Sorry, busy. try again later"....

Game is a *little* laggy on my system, all settings low, to begin with. Turned up textures to high, but can't get back in to see how it reacts now :(

I kinda like it, but your "stash" chest in town is limited. Have to spend a LOT of gold to buy more spaces...
Town itself is niiiiiice! Kinda like the Torchlight town - spread out, although not many places to use in this.

1st Quest completed - kill 3 Spitter mothers, and the Queen. Got to level 3. Couple of nice low-level items found as loot.

Character seems....a bit crappy, TBH. Select skills and spells for mouse buttons, and right-click to equip something instead of left click, open inv, drag it to slot was a nice touch.
Looting is kinda fun, too - just run near the stuff, and it's auto-collected. Can find clothing that increases the radius of that, too.

Need to go see if I can get back in now!
Is your game fully downloaded? Might explain the lag if it's not done yet.
Just finished downloading the beta overnight, figured I'd give it a shot this weekend to see if I can live with the changes. Upon attempting to start and log in I get an error message that the servers are too busy. This is exactly why I don't understand always on online requirements for single player games (among other reasons).

Although I understand the complaint, you're comparing a stress test open beta to a release situation. I'm sure this is not the intended situation for release.

Well it's Diablo 2 with "improved" graphics (let's say "modernize" as there are some debate whenever it's an improvement or not), streamlined skill system and a always online DRM added to the mix.

If you hate Diablo 2 I would say the chances you will like the third are pretty limited.

Oh I understand that difference and will certainly give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt that downtimes will be minimal upon release. However, the fact that it even CAN happen, evidenced by the fact that it did happen, is sort of Exhibit A of why always online DRM is a bad idea, in my opinion
I've played through the available content. Not sold on this. The graphical style is acceptable, but I'm not getting the same ... vibes as I was getting i Diablo II. The animations are really excellent though.

Overall, I was kind of getting bored while hacking my way to the "final" boss, and that's not a good sign two hours into the game.
