Just checked the FAQ and the Cerberus network code is not included in this promo so that's quite a lot of DLC someone will have to buy for the 'complete' ME2 experience. It's not that Zaeed and Firewalker are acutally nessesary but still it's like giving someone a used console copy. 1200 Bioware points is what $12?

Did the someone you passed it on to use the code successfully? People have been asking if the codes can be gifted in the official "ME2Offer" thread on the Bioware forums, and the admins have yet to answer. It's a frequently asked question that doesn't appear on the ME2Offer's FAQ page.

1200 points are $15. 1600 are $20. 800 are $10.

The propaganda "DA is selling like hot cakes ,it's doing even better than Origins" in the announcment post is just sad when everybody knows most of those sales are due to Origins and when the figures for week 3 show that DA2 likely will struggle to ever make it to the 2 million mark, desperate moves such as this probably won't make much of a difference.

Too bad I'm kind of a spaz when it comes to the ME series and buy the 360 and PC versions roughly around the same time. :P I just got the email and it made me chuckle a little bit.

Yeah sales are dropping fast so this is likely an act of desperation. Would have been better for loyal customers if they had announced two free proper DLC's or something. Or even a propper modding toolset so people can get working themselves on more than one cave.

No kidding, i was shocked to see retail copies of a game released 3 weeks ago going for half price, time limited offers, on places dealing with retail copies like game and such. Whatever spin they try to put on sales, that's a clear indication that sales are nothing to write home about in regards to whatever expectations they had.

The proper way to trully reward loyal fans would have been with BW points, so that fans could use them on DLC, already released or upcoming, but off course this is not about rewarding anyone, least of all loyal fans, this is just marketing/pr bullshit to boost DA sales and at the same time, like you said, make a few extra bucks on ME2 DLC.

Good to know the codes can be gifted and reedemed at least, otherwise this would have been a bigger epic fail than the community bazzar.

You probably don't follow twitter but Bioware have 3 seperate accounts one for Bioware, one for Dragon Age and one for Mass Effect. They endlessly spam all three with any positive news on their titles such as "Dragon Age:Origins number one game in X" or "Mass Effect 2 has won X award". Last truly positive tweet from them was about the PC Gamer 94% review and the 5/5 from the Escapist since then it's been nothing but stull about ME2/3 so clearly positive spin on DA2 has been very hard to find. They were even desperate to get support for the Escapist March Mayhem which of course they ended up losing to Mojang.

Certainly a sequel to a game that sold 5 miiion copies hitting the 1 million mark is nothing to write home about especially when most of those sales were pre-orders. It seems Mr Awsome Button was shopping to the casual crowd but they were too busy playing Minecraft and Farmville or CoD to notice. Meanwhile the people who actually wanted a proper sequel and were stupid enough to pre-order have been making our views clear to others that may have bought it. DA:O got strong sales on word of mouth and it looks like word of mouth is killing DA2.

No, i don't actually follow twitter, but what you described doesn't surprise me. In fact that difficulty of putting a positive spin on DA2 you mentioned it's likely why Laidlaw keeps bashing DAO, if DA2 were any good he wouldn't need to go on and on about how in reality DAO sucks balls to make DA2 look better. Definitely, word of mouth carried DAO's sales over that mark, the same thing sure as hell won't happen with DA2, in fact it's like you say, in the long run word of mouth will likely hurt DA2's sales, alot.

Wow, how do they play that shit off? Of course, their sunk dev costs must be lower (I'm presuming about half the costs in DA2).

Do remember though, that uptick in sales for Origins was around Black Friday, the start of the Christmas shopping season in the US at least. I think I've got my dates correct on that one:)

I am predicting the ME2 giveaway will backfire and the people who might have been tempted to buy DA2 to get ME2 as well will be gifted ME2.

Even bundling ME2 with it i still say they'll struggle like hell to reach 2M. From what i gather that's 1/3 of what they were going for, which i believe was 6M.

Which just makes you wonder how batshit insane Mike Laidlaw is. He thought he would get more sales than DA:O's 5 Million by stripping it to pieces and introducing WoW style quests.

To be fair, WoW actually has better quests than DA2. Sure, there are tons of fedex and "kill X monsters" quests, but there are also a lot of very interesting quests as well. Sure, it's a low percentage, but those good quests ARE there. The "interesting quest quotient" for DA2 is actually lower in my opinion.
