bansama: But then, even Popcap seem to be doing it by charging $19.99 for customers in Australia and $9.99 for everyone else. Even people in New Zealand are only being charged $9.99 for Plants vs Zombies, so why try and over charge those in Australia?
It's disgusting that companies are still getting away with this crap.
Plants vs Zombies for me, and i'm guessing for most EU, is € 19,95 from PopCap store, so i'm not sure what's up with their prices. On Steam is € 9,99.
For me Mirror's Edge on Steam is € 49,99.
COD 4 new "low price" is $ 39,99 and US people are complaining about it. For me it's € 49,99.
And the list goes on and on.
So, i'm getting used to it. I'm not buying anything because i learned a long time ago that the only way i can vote is with my wallet or CC, but i'm getting used to being offered these 'amazing' deals all the time.
And like you say, companies are in fact getting away with it because lots of people seem to keep buying their games regardless of how much they're being ripped off.
I guess we still have a lot of work to do on the so called globalization.
Untill then i'll keep spending my money here on GOG and other places that provide me with entertainment without ripping me off.
stonebro: Regional pricing is common for everything else. Food, books, cars, pants, dildos, you name it.
Why should it be different for media?
Different currencies have varying relative values.
Do all of those things get distributed digitally using an internet connection ?
And the problem is not the currency relative values. It's the absolute value after converting the currency that bothers people
