Just curious, want to see how many female goggers there are. I personally don't know any girls who game, let alone who are into retro gaming.
Do you think girl gamers prefer a different sort of gaming experience from guys?
none, I scared them all off.

Werd.
Let's corral them all off into this thread and not let them escape!
i know there are some around here... i think i insulted one on accident by assuming she was a guy the other day
No, girls dont play games, and if some do, it's only stupid games endorsed by the likes of paris hilton (aka diamond quest). If any girl gamer here wants to prove me wrong be my guest. *looks around*. Thats what i thought.
The girls I know that play games play the likes of Gears of War and CS:S, mainly cooperative or team based games. dunno if thats the trend amongst most women but certainly the ones I know. Oh they also love Oblivian.

Yeah I know one thats a Gears freak..likes everything "real" gamers like.
Umm my cousin is really into Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, etc. Anything with pretty boys, I guess.
I have a friend that is a girl (as opposed to a "girlfriend") who obsessively plays adventure games, and nothing else. If a game appears to involve either shooting things or platforming, she refuses to touch it.
I've recommended this site to her several times (it's got Tex Murphy, In Cold Blood, and several freebies, after all), but I don't think she's taken the bait yet.

I'd totally not date any of them then.

DUDE. Keep working on her. You'd totally be doing her a favor. GOG is currently THE PLACE for the best adventure games.

I'm surprised that this thread has had this many replies without someone mentioning the Sims. My wife loves it. It's like playing with dolls that move and do their own soap operas. Oh, and Bejeweled.
Can't get her to run around shooting things in Unreal Tournament though. I think she doesn't like the shooting her husband and the dying part too much.
My fiancé is a heavy games player, and I know of at least two of her friends who also dig video games as much as they dig dudes.
With my partner, we always play adventure games together from start to finish, and she'll play anything with a storyline. Her favourite to date is 'Still Life', but there was much enjoyment had with Monkey Island and BASS etc. We're currently playing Riven. Anyway I won't bore you with too much detail, but she loves the Sims and her DS more than anything, especially the Ace Attorney series. But has completed Rocket Slime, Elite Beat Agents, Professor Layton, Pokemon etc.
Her friends on the other hand are into RTS mostly, though one of them rates the first Riddick game as an all time favourite. They're all over the DS since day one, plus, you can't keep them off Singstar either it seems.
I don't know exactly what point I'm trying to make, but I know the general female really does play video games a lot more than you'd think these days. You simply can't avoid it.
As for the GOG forums, yeah we all know its an EPIC sausage-fest in here, but that's what you should expect. Plus the last time I saw a girl make a post on these boards, I think there was much horning and innuendo. Captfitz, the only females of note (so to speak) are GOG Staff. One of them being Coala and the other is Rysa (whom I'm only guessing at, as this is the internet n' all)
There are at least plenty of online girl gamers. In World of Warcraft, for example. There are 4-5 active girls in my guild, and they play mostly every day just like the guys.
Nonsense, there are no women on the internet!!

I'm still not convinced that there are even people using the internet, like somehow most of it is procedurally generated. What a strange thought.
