MorphysLaw: By "action RPG", do you mean games that are like Diablo in their playstyle, mechanics and player view? Or do you mean RPGs that actually feel action-y, that have real-time combat at the very least?
daVigi: I mean Action-RPGs like Diablo, Torchlight,...
But yeah, I see the point. Games like Mass Effect could also be called Action-RPGs.
For some reasons I've never enjoyed Torchlight as much as I've enjoyed the Diablo series. I've played Torchlight several hours but I never had that WOW-feeling. It's the same with Torchlight 2. But I will give it another try.
Yeah I
think that Hack 'n' Slash suits better these Diablo-like games, while "Action RPG" suits better RPGs which tune down RPG in favor of more combat, like Mass Effect, Skyrim and so on.
As a game, I find Torchlight more enjoyable, but as I said, the unique Diablo atmosphere gives it a little extra.
