EDIT: Giveaway now closed. Winners: chevkoch and Reever

I must spread the love of my favorite game (SC2), so I am giving away one GOG version of Star Control 1/2. [EDIT: Also, thanks to OneFiercePuppy, I have a second copy to giveaway here. Thanks for the contribution!]

To enter this giveaway, please state your favorite sci-fi game and what you like about it. Also, Captain Fwiffo has some words to add:

"Attention alien vessel: Identify yourself or be destroyed."

1. To enter, clearly state you're in and remember to answer the question above!

"My vessel is somewhat understaffed right now seeing as how I am the only Spathi on board, which is a bit frightening as I am sure you can understand."

2. Only enter if you wish to play this game yourself or are entering for someone else who has already entered. No re-gifting.

"Grief and woe -- certainly a destroyer of innocents as well-travelled as yourself must know that the formalities of Wezzy-Wezzah are invalid unless performed on the large moon orbiting our homeworld, Spathiwa which is only 143 light years distant, and, if I remember correctly,is especially beautiful this time of year."

3. The draw will be next Wednesday.

My favorite sci-fi game... well Duke Nukem 3D has aliens :)
But no, my favorite Sci-Fi game has to be System Shock 2. Just good, old-school fun. The setting is awesome, the atmosphere is dark and intense. And it scares the shit outta me.
Can't quite grasp from the game card what experience would await with Star Control, but it feels like a title with immense depth? Please count me in, Tooms and thanks for the generous opportunity! Also, I dig your giveaway write-up style :) +1

My favorite sci-fi game would be MDK. Dark, bizarre, atmospheric, plus great action in beautiful alien-tech environments. Weird, weird humor.

Then, a title I've played only halfway through on the PlayStation is Fade to Black, gameplay-wise it seems to sport somewhat clunky controls at first, but when you've settled in to the slower pace the game offers, they work fine. Very dense, eerie atmosphere throughout. You can vote to bring it to GOG here.
Not in as I already have the games ( I even still have the boxed version).

Thanks for the giveaway though. My favourite Sci-fi game...if only I had one favourite, as sci-fi settings can be found covers in a wide variety of games. Homeworld, Tie-Fighter, X-COM ( the original series) and Space Empire are the names that jump to my mind, in their respective categories
Not in but...

My fave SciFi game is probably STARS! which I sadly can't play anymore because of it's age. The reason I love it over others is that while other space empire games have good tutorials and doable learning curves, none are quite as nice as STARS! At any given time I can change any one of a dozen things to make the game easier or harder. Also I love the names they give the planets. Oh sure you can change them but what's better than Planet Crouton or Planet Cookie? I also find it to have an all around more 'pleasant' layout: nothing too glaring, too striking, too big, or too small.

Thank you for giveaway, I'' jump in..

Favorite Sci-fi..hmm..a lot of games are coming in my mind, so I'll simply stick with the aged one - Master of Orion 2 or X-COM Enemy Unknown don't remember actually who was the first one..

I'd say my favorite sci-fi game is Homeworld! It's a great 3D RTS space game that really needs to be on GOG!
I'm in and my favorite Sci-Fi game(s) is the Mass Effect Series. I just love them!

I liked the plot, the background/worldbuilding and the characters. Really great SF vibe =)

I usually like Post Apocalyptic games like Fallout and Borderlands, but recently I have been playing Bioshock Infinite. I also like 4X games which are usually in space...

"Wanna fight?" :-D

Not in, but +1.

Star Control 2 is a game that did everything just right, built out of parts that by all rights shouldn't fit together, but somehow do anyway. It is at the same time several genres put together, and a genre all its own. It's an absolutely brilliant game, and I salute you for trying to spread the word about it.

Edit: Oh, as for favorite sci-fi game, there are so many to choose from. Still, my absolute favorite probably is Star Control 2, with Imperium Galactica 2 in second place.

Wishbone: "Wanna fight?" :-D
"Surprise and Terror! I am greeted by the smooth and hostile face of our old enemy, the Hootmans, no... the Huge-glands, no, I remember, the Hunams!"

Hmm, never heard of that one. I will have to check it out...

Not in, but ... favorite science fiction game: YOU ARE EMPTY, a first person shooter taking place in a postapocalyptic 1950's Soviet Union. The game got slaughtered by the reviewers, but I really like its artsy, gritty atmosphere, especially in the theater sequence. It got some really stylish black'n white collage cutscenes and insane enemies such as cyborg dogs and giant turkeys. Most of your weapons are fairly realistic - Mauser pistol, Double barreled shotgun - but this really makes your sniper nailgun (!) stand out. Seriously, that sniper nailgun is the nicest weapon I have seen in a fps! Trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Dy5CUvuCxo
(but actually, my real favorite is SC2 ... supermele is king of keyboard-sharing multiplayer)

I'm in and my favourite sci-fi games are either the Fallout series or the System Shock Series.
Fallout has a massive world which is really diverse and full of funny, scary and awesome NPCs.
System Shock is just System Shock - atmospheric and awesome, with fun gameplay and good age (I guess).
Count me in, thanks.
My all time favourite science-fiction would be Total Annihilation, which is a superb RTS, but for more modern games I would go with Faster Than Light.

It's a 4X game with an insane amount of features, most of which can be customized to your specific style of playing. Sadly, the only way to buy it these days (as far as I know) is on iOS and Android, where they recently re-released it. The original version is a PC game though.
