My backlog of games makes buying new ones just ridiculous.... but I'm a ridiculous person, so....

I break it down into Planned Purchases and Impulse Purchases. Things that I buy at full price are usually ones I've been following for a while, eager for the release date, and will probably have pre-ordered somewhere (JRPGs for the most part). Sales and discounts are usually required to make me pick up something I hadn't intended to get - I very rarely think "ooh, I really want that game - I'll get it in a sale sometime". I might look at a game and think that it'll be worth a look if it ever dropped in price (Assassin's Creed IV, Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, for example - all of which I now have, but all much cheaper than when first released) but they wouldn't be games I'd get too upset about if I never ended up playing them.

(And just in case anyone feels that I *should* get upset if I never play The Last of Us, sorry, zombie games just don't do it for me. Not even pseudo-zombie games. But hey, I've got it now, so I'll probably get round to playing it at some point)

And as a final aside, I generally grab anything Atlus publishes as soon as possible, almost regardless of price. Persona 5 cannot arrive soon enough.
I generally get games on sale but a few I'll make an exception for and get on release. Hotline Miami 2 will be like that for me.
I'm buying games when it's on sale generally. But sometimes I bought some games full price if I really want to play it and have the cash to (last example is DayZ).

Well, i now that i bought a lot of games on sale. Most were older and not really new anymore. The last game i bought was Bioshock Invinite on sale on Steam.
But i noticed that i buy to many of them. Now i have a pile on the harddrive that i not even have played. To little time.

$60 Dollars for a games i would not invest anymore. I am too old to have a game that urgent. The only one i can see where it makes sense are first person shooters since later servers will be more empty.
About 6 month ago i bought Battlefield 3 and now its more settled and not many server (i see) that have players.

Anyway, in my case it really depends if i wanted it now or not. The last one i wanted now was Shadowrunner Returns.
