Join the guys in charge of GOG.com for a chat!

EDIT: The video has ended, but you can check out the recorded stream here (http://www.twitch.tv/gogcom/c/4113792), or just watch the highlights below. Thanks for participating, and be sure to leave us any comments you have on the topics we discussed below! :)

GOG.com is going live on Twitch <span class="bold">today</span> and we'd like to heartily invite all of you to join us. Our founder, Marcin Iwiński (known in the forums as <i>iWi</i>), Piotr Karwowski (<i>Destro</i>), the VP of Online Technologies, and Trevor Longino (<i>TheEnigmaticT</i>), the Head of Marketing and PR, will do their best to answer your questions while remaining at least a bit entertaining, on Tuesday April 22, 6:00PM GMT (that's 2:00 PM EDT and 11:00 AM PDT) in the [url=http://www.twitch.tv/gogcom]<span class="bold">GOG.com Official Twitch.tv Channel</span>.

This wouldn't be--of course--much of a Q&A if they didn't have any questions to answer. We count on you, dear GOGgers, to provide many interesting ones! There has been many interesting things happening around GOG.com, recently, so we're sure many of you have thing you'd like to ask us. There's a few ways to do that. You can ask your questions right here, in the forum thread below. You can sign in to the <span class="bold">Twitch live chat</span> as soon as the livestream starts, and post your thoughts and questions in there. Finally, you can tweet your question to our <span class="bold">@GOGcom Twitter account</span>, with the #GOGtwitch hashtag.

We'll be with you for at least an hour (we may end up going longer!), but that's probably still not enough time to answer all questions. We'll select just the ones we think are most common to the community as a whole, and the most interesting ones as well. After the livestream is done, we'll post a montage of its highlights with just a slight delay needed to put the thing together.

Again, we invite you to <span class="bold">GOG.com Official Twitch.tv Channel</span> today, 6:00PM GMT (that's 2:00 PM EDT and 11:00 AM PDT), and we hope you'll find time to join us. In fact, drop half an hour early to catch our Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure gameplay stream!
Have you guys given any consideration to hosting games that may be "FREE" on the internet, such as Star Trek, Birth of the Federation.... This game runs glitchy in its current format off of the internet, and could use some stability reworking. I'm sure other games out there could be brought onto the GOG system, and many would pay a few bucks to have those games in a stable format on the GOG platform.... Good games need a GOOD PLATFORM.... Thanks

TheFrenchMonk: My questions are rather easy, I hope you will appreciate this supportive gesture from me and pick one of them.

Titanium: I read this in my best Darth Vader voice because it feels so candidly diabolical if you think about it and/or disregard what follows.
I have altered the terms of our Q&A. *chkhissssss* Pray I do not wish to alter it further.
One hour to go! Yay!

I'd like to pose the question: How do you compare apples and oranges? Which one is better?

(Who am I kidding?, oranges are definitely better than apples. Apples are boring.)

Actually, almost three hours to go.

Bah, GMT+0 during DST is still GMT+0 in my book. :P

Awesome. I am leaving office at 7 PM, so I should manage to see the start a hour later :).
* What is the status of possible "Early Access" builds on GOG? The recent Don't Starve RIse of Giants DLC is a good example of Steam getting the jump on material primed for GOG.

* What does GOG say is the biggest method for attracting promising new titles? I'm curious to hear how GOG successfully lures in new partners.

* What is the status of the developer portal for indie game submission? Can that be considered a success or has it stalled out?

* What goals, if any, does GOG have for structuring it's catalog? Are there any rules of thumb for catalog composition (i.e. 60% classics, or not more than 2 same type game releases in a row, etc)? It's been newer games on Tuesday and classics on Thursday at one point, implying a 50/50 rate for new releases but that's not always the case.
Countdown
Post edited April 22, 2014 by Lemon_Curry
Just one question for the stream, how many (if any) potential releases will we not get on GOG due to the reversal on regional pricing?

Apparently, since Iceland is the only country in GMT+0 to not have daylight savings time.

Foreword :
From what I saw recently, Steam somewhat gave some leeway to what developers can sell on their platform ...and that was abused. Steam has a recent history of dubious early access, some outrageous back-catalogue dumping. No steam bashing here, they do a great job at trying new ways to do business, and this is a good thing BUT their quality control or their standards really took a hit.

Ramblings :
It made me think, in my own very personal opinion I am quite happy with the gogames I have and I don't consider any of them to be shovelware, bugware or scamware (but most of them are oldware ;). I consider some of them to be quite lacking and I will very probably never play them again, some of them are not that good (retrospectively) but have a nostalgia factor that goes through the roof. In the end I don't regret any purchase on gog while I regret several on Impulse/GS and Steam.
So I recently wondered if that was due to quality control or just the fact that older games passed the proof of time already and got patched/modded and reached this perfect state they are revered for today.

Question :
I remember some threads about "did gog reject that game ?" or "this is a kiddie game but gog should really get it". (Ok that's not a question)
So :
There is the wishlist, the forum and Tfishell .... but did your selection process and quality control changed recently (or will in the near future) ? Would you prefer being more selective or are you increasing your release/support capabilities (provided more and more devs want to release their work on your store)?

Yeah but I chose the location for the very reason groze mentioned (it's not possible to simply choose GMT). All that really matters is that the countdown is correct. :)
