Hi, I'm using dosbox turbo for Android and I have been able to make it work in various games. But I've purchased the gog version of LBA2 and it keeps asking for the cd.

I can use the game in the pc through my own dosbox installation, mounting the .dat file that refers to the .gog and the .ogg files.

But in Android, when I try to mount the .dat file I get the following error:

"could not load image file (...)
MSCDEX: Failure: Invalid file or unable to open."

I've tried to mount the .gog file directly but it keeps telling me that the game needs the cd, and if I edit the .dat file and delete the .ogg part it mounts it, but still ask for the cd when I execute the game.

Could anybody help me?

You need to rename the GOG file to .ISO then mount it, that should be a start.
I have tried and it doesn't work either: it keeps asking for the cd.

I don't own it, so I can't test it out for myself, but if I could get a GOG copy of it, id be more than happy to try.
I don't have LBA2, so I cannot really answer your question. However, having several games running under Dosbox Turbo on my Nexus7, I know a little about the subject.

You probably have checked the DosBox Turbo site, which states:
How do I mount a new CD drive?
Using the normal dosbox mount commands; however, since Android is Linux based, you will need to use linux pathnames as such:
mount d /sdcard/dos/mycd -t cdrom

Or maybe the DosBox wiki can help:
http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/MOUNT

Another thing I found is that your CD might need a label:
Your CD may need a label, which the game is specifically looking for. Also. make sure CDROM is capitalized.
mount d /sdcard/lba2 -t CDROM -label [cd label name when inserted into drive]

Also, this might be interesting, since Android is (based on) linux:
to mount the cd on a linux system type:
mount d /media/cdrom0 -t cdrom -label LBA2 -ioctl -usecd 0
or
mount d /media/cdrom1 -t cdrom -label LBA2 -ioctl -usecd 1
depending wich cd/dvd-drive you are using.

As I said, I don't have LBA2, so I cannot test it, but maybe one of the above links is of some help.

I dont own LBA2, but on DosBox Turbo, most gog games seem to work just fine using the following:

imgmount d: /mnt/sdcard/game.gog -t cdrom
Hi. Thank you all but I tried your solutions and none was working. I've kept searching and I found the solution:

The LBA2.DAT file from gog (the one that points to the .gog file that its the image of the game) has the following format:

FILE "LBA2.GOG" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "LBA2.OGG" MP3
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00

I changed it for the following text:

FILE "LBA2.GOG" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:02:00
INDEX 01 65:50:42

I copied it from the .cue from my own LBA2 cd.

Now dosbox turbo mounts the .gog file without problem and the game works perfectly.

Thanks again for your help. Should I mark the problem as solved?

Mostly DOSBox versions of games as far as I can tell with my very limited knowledge of the Android platform.

Indeed, DosBox games work very good with on Android. (I use DosBox Turbo, together with the Dosbox Manager). HOWEVER, keep in mind that Android is touch based and (most) tablets and phones do not come with a keyboard. So you've got to figure out what games qualify. Generally, any dosbox game that is completely mouse driven will do. Otherwise, you will have to get a (bluetooth) keyboard. I play Ultima7 on my Nexus7 and it works great (more or less).

Apart from DosBox, there are quite a lot of games that use SCUMMVM, like Monkey Island, Sam and Max hit the Road, Indiana Jones, Beneath a steel sky, DiscWorld (sadly, not Noir) and many others. They are fun to play on a tablet.

Wasn't there some sort of a port of GemRB, the engine remake thing for Infinity engine games or am I thinking of something else?
Just looking for something to do with my android tablet, instead of purchasing one of the intel Windows 8 tablets. But eventually the Windows 8 tablet will replace my transformer prime, as it can probably play the majority of the games I am interested in.

Hadn't heard of it, but checked it on Google Play.

It says: "GemRB (Game engine made with pre-Rendered Background) is a portable open-source implementation of Bioware's Infinity Engine. Supported games: Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series, Planescape:Torment.
Requires 128+ of free RAM and large 4-inch screen. Engine is in a development stage - may contain bugs."

So, that is something to watch.

Thanks.

Yes.

The one on Google Play is likely old, use the one available above instead.

Just in case you didn't see it, read the first part of this post.
Also, here's some documentation and more info.

So, do any of the IE games actually play on the android platform or is it a work in progress kind of thing.
