comradegarry: It'll be years before I can afford to get a machine that will run it, anybody got any idea's how to stay unspoiled till then?...
Don't read anything about it anymore starting from now. Don't enter a thread that could contain possible information about it. Don't buy games magazines in 2014-2016.

Oh, and buy a new computer one year after release (when the bugs are out and decent hardware costs a bit less).

skynet464: No one could play TW3 at release date. :P Everyones got to wait a few years for the technology to catch up.
Like with most 3D PC-RPGs.
Gothic 1, Gothic 2, Ultima - Ascension, The Witcher, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc.... were all not even playable on the average PC you could find in most households at the time. Maxing out takes even more patience in PC gaming. ;)
That's why I love good old games and most indie games. ;)

Imho there was no reason to make the game more hardware hungry than Witcher 1, which looks great already and is playable on my PC after several optimizations.

lukslo: Here you can have a look how the GTX 650 compares to other GPUs (the review is based around the MSIs overclocked GTX650 but in the graphs there is the normal GTX650 version also).

justanoldgamer: Thank you.
Here is a supplemental link, it has a lot of comparisons but just on some general apsects (based on specs) and usually without benchmarks. I think it's a good starting point to see approximately where your card is and what performance difference you can assume.

Fictionvision: AMD Phenom II X4 3ghz/ Core2Quad 2.66ghz

Geforce GTX 560 ti/Radeon 7850

justanoldgamer: OK
I've got a Core 2 Quad 2.5 Ghz 64 bits
8 GB of ram
GEFORCE GTX 650 1GB (The most I could afford to replace an ATI Radeon 4650 1GB that went bye bye)

So I'm a bit below on the CPU but I have no clue of the graphic card. Is there a site where they sort graphic card by performance?
I've always found TomsHardware is a terrific reference point for purchasing graphic cards. Not only they recommend the best bang for your buck in different budget tiers (June review is ), they also provide a hierarchy chart to compare cards from different generations ([url=http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html]here), which is more or less what you ask.

My congratulations. If this is your worst fear, your life must be amazing.

Also, you probably live on another planet. How could I pass by for a visit?
Yeah, got to wonder what you were expecting if you can't run the 2nd game...

I think I'd have to go with a spider jumping on you while in the shower.

Or maybe being chased by cannibals as you fall from attempting to climb a tall building after being set on fire and chased by killer bees dressed like your dead grandmother. That might be worse.
My worst fear is a little more rational than that:

I don't think it matters any more. Give it another 20 years and you won't even be required to be bi-pedal.

comradegarry: I'm at a lost right now, I have no way of playing The Witcher 3 when it comes out.
It'll be years before I can afford to get a machine that will run it, anybody got any idea's how to stay unspoiled till then?

Also has their been mention of any linux [native?] support yet?
Just play all the backlog stuff you have and i'm sure you have games for years, as do we all.
That time when your PC can't play the newest games and you can't immediately upgrade is very frustrating. I remember going through that when Doom 3 came out. Annoying.

I need an upgrade right now myself and my goal is to complete it by October for Dragon Age 3 and Alien Isolation. Maybe if you set a goal for February you can get it done? Or at least part of it?
If CDPR's track record is anything to go by, I suggest you wait 1 more year till the inevitable Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition gets released.
