A friend of mine asked a question which i assume relates to mythology.

It might be complete bullshit in its entirety however.

Was the and if so what was the name of the person whom supposedly was afflicted with every disease known to mankind?

Incan, Greek, Egyptian, or Hindi mythology? Because I think I remember reading something similar in each.
Pandora - as in Pandora's box?

Knowing who posed the question I would assume Greek, He was convinced it was Midas but i showed him wikipedia on King Midas who was the one who turned what he touched into gold.

Pandora's Box contained "all the evils of the world" and she herself was created by the gods/deities

I think your thinking of the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. The one your thinking of is Pestilence

Midas got donkey ears as well as turning everything he touched to gold. The donkey ears were from mouthing off to Dionysus if I remember right.

Hmm, I remember all of Thebes was afflicted with all the diseases known until they drove out Oedipus. I'll have to check my books for a single person though.

Was he not the bringer of plagues? Not someone actually inflicted.

I mean dont get me wrong its certainly possible, Person in question sometime does pull some very "unusual" theories
Whoever it is I'm not getting anywhere fucking near them.

Yeah - but all types of sickness and diseases tends to be lumpt into here also.

Edit - The Nosoi where the spirits of disease and sickness, and they jumped out of Pandora's box. http://www.theoi.com/Daimon/Nosoi.html

It's Mr. Burns from The Simpsons. Because he has every disease known to man (including just a smidge of uterine cancer), he's immortal. It's like every disease is a person trying to walk through the door of his mortality. They all want to kill him. But since they're all trying to get through the door at once, none of them can, so he's immortal.

He may have some Greek heritage somewhere back there.

False alarm folks

The prat was watching it on TV (Cause TV is always accurate) It was an episode of "The new Avengers" from the 70's and looking back in the TV listings it will have been the episode called "The Midas Touch" cause it was the only episode on TV when he wasnt working.

Of course is someone is familiar with the TV series and can correct this please do.

Well I have to say, after I watched the Avengers movie (the one based on the show not the comic book one) I sure felt like I had every disease ever.
Second episode down man

You're killing me tinyE. That's two +1's in one thread.
There is no character in Mythology that is afflicted with every disease known to man. The mere fact that such a standout person isn't readily known when the question comes up, means there is none. Such a character would be easily remembered to those who like reading tales of Mythology.
