I purchased the Xbox 360 and PS3, for the media center portions of those devices. I wish I would have avoided the Xbox, because without bluray it was just no match to the PS3. The PS3 could have been a great media center, but Sony had to bork that up.
My definition of a media center is able to play HD MP4 without streaming. The PS3 had the low 4GB cap on file size, and on top of that Sony had to throw their Copy Protection (Cinavia) crap all over it. So, any blurays that I had purchased and ripped, I could not play if it had the Cinavia crap on it.
This time around I will be skipping the XBox and will take a very hard look at the PS4. However, I have a low powered PC in my entertainment center that can accomplish the same thing, it just takes a lot more to setup and look good.

As far as playing games on consoles, PC's play the type of games I am more interested in (RPGs & Strategy) and the consoles suck at both genres. The PC can also play any game that those consoles can put out, if they would port all the games to the PC.

So, with all that said...slim chance I will purchase a PS4, very unlikely I would purchase the Xbox, and no chance in hell I would purchase the Nintendo.

Would I ever buy a console? Yes. In fact, I already have. Several. I doubt I'll nab a PS4 or XBone since most of the games on there I could probably nab on PC. I might nab a Wii U if it ever gets games I want (already has a few I know I'd like that will also never hit PC, plus I can play Wii games). I'd also be willing to nab a Vita if it had games I wanted, as well. I think I might honestly just stick with my 3DS for now, though. 3DS and PC seems like a good enough combo for now.

I was pretty big into console gaming for a while, but I kicked that habit like an ugly baby last Fall when I sold all of my consoles and associated games. Partly because of a move, but mostly because I was going back to a strict PC-gaming regimen. It also helps that it freed up a lot of room. For someone who may not have a lot of living space that is indeed a good thing. I also don't miss the clutter of game discs everywhere. My backup external HDD is all I need.

Sure, there are some games not present on PC I wouldn't mind playing, but I don't miss the silly restrictions and limitations consoles bring with them, not to mention the exorbitant price points if you want to keep up on recent games. The more I bought and played games from GOG, the less drive I had to bother with my consoles. Yup, GOG is mainly responsible to getting me back into the PC/Windows-gaming fold, and I'm loving it.

I'm a man of principles and I've several reasons to not get a console. But let's say if no more games are released on PC (highly doubt it) then I'll quit gaming / only play older PC games... as it is today, there are several other mediums I can turn to.

Nope, I would not buy a console. There are enough pc games for me to play as it stands and I spend enough on my rig(s) anyway. I have nothing against consoles but I see no reason to invest in one just for the ability to play a few more games when I already have a huge back catalog to keep me going on the pc, with new ones always cropping up as time moves on.

I've technically been a console player longer than a PC player - bought my Intellivision 2 during Christmas of 1983 (and my Atari 5200 joined the family soon after in 1984) and my first PC-XT was purchased in 1986 (Bard's Tale and Starflight were the first games). Oh, and I have some handheld emulators as well - 2 Pandoras and a Dingoo.

I have most of the major consoles from the two listed above thru the PS3 except for the Sega Saturn (favs are SNES and PS3). I love video gaming of all sorts but my "go to" format has always been the PC (once I got one, that is). I simply can't imagine that changing, mostly due to the versatility.

I've a big enough backlog as it is. Also, essentially paying 400 bucks for a single game is never not going to be too steep. And most important of all: If a publisher can't be bothered to port a game to PC, I can't be bothered to play it.

I buy Sony and Nintendo consoles for the exclusive games. Actually I buy Nintendo just for the Zelda and Mario franchises.

Modern PC gaming is dead for me. I haven't really liked a PC exclusive since UT2004.

Nope never owned a console and I don't see that changing. I find it amusing if I mention about not having played some console game X. There are so many PC and Amstrad CPC games I haven't played that I shall be content without having to play console games, maybe one day I will play a ZX Spectrum or something to :P

My parents own an xbox at their house, played a few games on it and its terrible. Compared to a Pc you have so much more freedom with mods, patches and Indy games. I would not purchase a console unless they were providing decent games.

After all, how many starcraft/hardcore stratergy like supreme commander or empire earth you ever see on console? None because the controls can not handle the complexity of keyboard hotkeys.

Yes I also know they did bring sc1 to console but it really sucked with the quad screens.

Never owned a console. Don't care much for multiplayer. Even if PC gaming really died and there were fewer new games I still have a big list of games to go through.
