It's easy to feel "lost" after all the pure excitement and energy that was coursing those few days, and then to just have it come to a complete halt. It was kind of saddening to see how much the forums had died down to compared to what they were. I figure once it's back to the week days and we start getting back into the groove of things, we won't notice it too much. Orrrr, I heard that those games we buy are actually playable, believe it or not! Forcing yourself to relax and have some fun will take your mind of things as well. And like Sinistar said, it should give you something great to look forward to :)
I do agree though, already missing the liveliness of the forums and all the great people.

I bought and finished the original Myst when it was first released; if you like tough puzzles, combined with a relaxed pace and pretty, mysterious places to discover you'll feel right at home.

I don't know about you but I tried my hand on Risk of Rain and I'm getting my ass kicked. Will try something more relaxing like Theme Park later.

Finished Myst back in the day, got Riven during the sale, never played it and am very excited! It's the first one I'll be playing from the sale, hope to get started tonight.

Risk of Rain is great but vicious. It takes a lot of plays to get comfortable with what to do. As you unlock more characters and items it gets more survivable, but I played it a hell of a lot of times before I finally "beat" it. I still have a load of challenges to complete, as well as some further characters to unlock. But perseverance will pay off. And you will eventually determine whether the better play style for you is "summon boss quickly to enter next world at low difficulty" or "stick around for power-ups while the clock runs against you". Both have their merits, but different players will find one or the other more manageable.

I also bought Riven back when it was first released but never finished it. I also bought it (or rather traded for it) during the insomnia sale so I could give it another shot, and its the first title of my newest additions that I'm playing. I Already discovered more than last time :) I do have to get used to the slow pace and the openness of the world again, though.

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am!

So you're saying that a grindtastic playstyle is possible? Just collecting levels and power-ups and not any paying attention to the clock?

It is indeed. That's how I finally succeeded, by stacking enough powers to make the thing survivable. I did race like a mad fool through the last level or two though, because they were hella deadly by then. But they did seem to cap out, and even if I had done the race-the-clock approach they probably wouldn't have been easy enough to make up for the lack of powers. Speedrunners may find success with the time approach, but personally I need the offensive and defensive buffs to make my playstyle succeed.

Oh, and another important question I omitted; are we talking about easy or normal difficulty?

Excellent, have fun! I have been debating starting with Myst, though that's on CD and long buried in the depths of the garage. I've never tried installing something that old either. I'll probably be lazy, read up on the story, and start with Riven. Things have been pretty hectic and I've been on a metroidvania binge so I'm looking forward to the change of pace.

Normal, though you can play on Easy to get comfortable with the various characters. The documentation seems to indicate that you don't keep your unlocks on Easy, which is why I eschewed using it. But I have seen posts that indicate otherwise, so try it on Easy and see if your unlocks persist. If they do, please let me know so that I can beat myself mercilessly. :)
