Complete classic adventure saga!

Legend of Kyrandia, The Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate and The Legend of Kyrandia: Malcolm's Revenge, the whole memorable comedic fantasy adventure saga straight from the golden age of 2D point-and-clicking, is available up to 70% off today, on GOG.com. That's only $5.37 for the complete set of three games, until Tuesday, January 7, at 10:59AM GMT.

It began with the adventure of Brandon, the rightful heir to the throne left empty by treachery and murder. The first Legend of Kyrandia the hero comes of age during his travels, learns some essential magic spells, recovers a mystical artifact, and faces his parents' murderer. Years pass. Zanthia, a young female alchemist and wizard encountered in the first game, discovers that the kingdom of Kyrandia is in great danger. In The Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate the land seems to be mysteriously disappearing, piece by piece. The beautiful heroine has to embark on a dangerous quest which will lead her to some unsettling discoveries. She will also find her one true love, whether she want's it or not--just in time to save his sorry behind. Finally, the story will come full circle and you'll see things from a whole new perspective. In The Legend of Kyrandia: Malcolm's Revenge the villain of the first story makes a comeback, and this time he has to make it without his magical powers. Is he really the murdering maniac we thought he was, or just a regular maniac with no blood on his hands?

Wouldn't you just kill for some good old-school point-and click action? Don't you feel you could murder a classic fantasy trilogy? Get the complete Legend of Kyrandia saga for only $5.37, until Tuesday, January 7, at 10:59AM GMT
I already posted in the other thread but French speakers that are interested in these games should go for it as it is easy to switch them to French (you need to modify the shortcut for the first one, and the others can be changed by opening the menu).
nice promo for adventure fans
Thanks for this promo. Bought lots of other adventures during the christmas sale and somehow missed the Kyrandia series. I then planned to buy the games when the series is on sale. Came faster than I thought ;)

Erich_Zann: ...If clicking two times is the pain, two words : keyboard shortcuts. They should be mandatory...

Kunovski: hmm, interesting - you don't happen to know the shortcuts for Simon (if the game has any)? with it I might replay the game, I miss it very much :) (yet I hate the icon interface, as you might have guessed ;)
Just checked by reinstalling the game, Simon 1 does not seem to have shortcuts. Pity, they make everything so much faster.
I dislike forced mouse-only almost as much as touchscreen.

Amen to that. -_- To be fair though, there have been some very good localizations over the years. We've come a long way since FF7-level of awfulness.
Huh, I'm pretty sure I checked the website yesterday around 11am GMT and I still managed to miss this; I thought they hadn't returned to their old schedule yet and just skipped the Monday sale. Was it announced as a news item on the front page?

It was, but the announcement came late. It wasn't in place at the usual time, I only saw it late in the evening.

Too bad. I take it they were only 70% off if you bought the whole bundle though? And do you think that delay was an accident or a new release schedule, seeing that so far there hasn't been any announcement today either?

50% for one game, 60% for two, 70% for all three. I already owned the first game and got the other two for 70% off.

It's not a new release schedule, Turnip_Slayer didn't know either why the offer didn't show up on the front page. There's another thread about that somewhere in the back (perhaps someone else can provide a link, I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment).

Edit: Ah, found the link:

It's most likely due to the national Epiphany holiday around here.
More specifically, it's their fault.

That camel looks pretty smug.
Good adventure series.

SirPrimalform: But without any DRM how are they going to enforce their EULA?
EULAs are contracts, and enforcement is through the legal system, not technological measures. You're agreeing to allow them to do certain things or give up your rights to do certain things. You can read their EULA from the linked PDF at the bottom of the game page. I just poked through it, and they've improved it past what it used to be, but not enough that I would agree to it. I remember old language appeared to say you agreed to allow them to install Origin on your system, but it looks like that's been fixed. My biggest issue is the tendency that companies have of forcing binding arbitration. They've improved what they have there enough that it's getting closer to reasonable, but it still has something about they can change it at any time and if you don't notice and send them a refusal in writing within 30 days of their arbitrary change then you're agreeing to the new terms.

The trend stems from a US court (Supreme Court, I think) decision ruling that a company can disallow class action lawsuits and force binding arbitration through contracts of adhesion (a contract where one party writes it and the other party isn't in a position to negotiate). It's been a couple of years and it's been appearing in a lot of EULAs since then. Valve put it in their EULA, and they did have some pro-consumer provisions as part of it and I'm still on the fence if I'll ever go back and agree to that or not.

On the one hand, I recognize that there are too many lawyers in the US for the amount of work to be done, and there are some that hunt around looking for class action lawsuits to start, which causes a big expense for something pretty trivial, and the responsibility of the company is to look after its own interests. On the other hand, large companies have a poor track record of giving the tiniest bit of a damn about their customers past the bare minimum, and agreements can eventually be exploited, and sometimes a class action lawsuit IS the appropriate remedy (say adding a $0.25 surcharge to every transaction with millions of customers, not enough for most to bother doing more than grumble, but a decent chunk of exploitative profit, this is something that I think most phone companies have gotten caught doing). So I'd be happy to agree to a EULA that, say, required that the entire award from a class action lawsuit would be donated to a charity chosen by vote of interested class members or one spelled out in the EULA and allowed that no legal fees could be collected as part of the award.

Yep, I missed it as well as it wasn't on the front page the 20 times I checked before I gave up.

Would have bought it as well.

Oh well, saved me some money. Thanks GOG :)
mmm, people who say that they would have bought the package, had they only seen the sale... some blue-heads will roll. More sacrifices to the almighty tinyE.
