The wtc 7 was on fire.

The problem with skyscrapers or other high buildings is that if you weaken the supporting columns just right, it will collapse quite easily like a deck of cards. That's because the building acts like a giant interconnected structure, and it's high mass will inevitably force it down if bent just right. Yes, a fire can easily fell a modern building, if it's not properly protected.
