I am no expert in the TBS field, but I tend to enjoy the genre. Recently I have started playing Incubation and I am greatly enjoying it, very tense and gripping. Other turn-based games I like very much are those of the Age of Wonders series (I'm not talking about the last one, which I've not tried). Years ago, a friend and I spent many a night playing them. Heroes of Might & Magic 2 is another cherished title. And I played Space Crusade to death on my old Amiga, it was one of my favourite games back then and I finished all the missions; unfortunately I never got the expansion disk.
I have never played X-COM, JA, HoMM3, S2, but I am going to rectify that in the near(?) future. I would also like to try out Space Hulk, WH40k: Chaos Gate, Laser Squad(*), and others, but sadly they are not (legally) available anywhere.
(*) the spectrum version is indeed available on World of Spectrum, which has obtained permission fron the author, Julian Gollop. Does anyone know about the status of other versions? I would like to play the C64 version, it is declared freeware on a geocities.ws website but I don't know how reliable that is...
