"The beta will be on Windows only at first and will be distributed directly from us or through a service that's more prepared for alpha/beta testing like Desura.

And finally, though it's too early to gaurantee anything about the final release, we hope to have FTL available on Windows, Mac, and Linux at the same time. We hope that it will be sold through most popular services (like Steam, Desura, GamersGate, OnLive, etc), but we will prepare a DRM free option as well."

Looks like they are going to do a DRM free option as well as distribute it through the standard online distributing platforms.

KyleKatarn: Here's another game that took off pretty quick.

Also wanted to point to this thing called Fundhaus. A lot of what it does can be done with the categories, but it does add easier ways to search. You can use it to only watch videos of projects if you want.

Since they've already hit their target, I'll just wait for the Gamersgate version. Thanks for word on this game, looks interesting.
Spike: A Love Story Too. Looks like a very interesting platformer where you play as the annoying spike trap that always kills the hero.

Yeah you got that from me. However, I think you missed the part where I was making fun of the idiocy of the project and how clearly the kickstarter has absolutely no clue about game development :P

Also the guy who's asking for $1,100,000 is a man who won $27,000,000 on the lottery.

I hope that project works out well.. to me, it seems like the creator of the project has thrown out a bunch of ideas, and has no knowledge about making them come true (development-related).

Hopefully he'll be able to hire some folks with those money to do the job.

"I am an idea man" - aren't we all.

Well, here's the first issue:

He expects to code a MMO that blows everything else out the water with $1100000. He wants something that makes TOR pale in comparison. The cost of developing TOR was roughly $200M, with a huge team of very talented people and an established license (They didn't need to come up with lore ideas).

Oh, just stop it! EA knows nothing about development, that guy is better than them.

Being serious now, I think he's just trying to take advantage of KS' recent success in funding some other games development process.

As you said, there's no way that you can make a MMO that will compete with TOR, WoW, or even some of the more popular free-to-play ones... well, maybe if you find some devs that want $5 per month for their time. :)

You picked a really great example of the issues with Kickstarter... yeesh.
Wasteland 2

That's the only one I am interested in.
Hardcore Tactical Shooter
Shooters aren't my thing, but the type of slower paced, methodical gameplay he's talking about sounds more like it.

Ah you're right I only skimmed thru the Kickstarter. Well at least we can have a good laugh about it :D

Not game related at all but a project I've found worth funding is this...

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andsoiclosemyeyes/and-so-i-close-my-eyes-a-feature-by-women-for-wome?ref=users

They were successful with their first kickstarter project and managed to get those videos made, but they could use help with the full movie.

Full disclosure: I personally know one of the people involved with it.
Thanks for the info. It looks like the game ones are doing well; I was hoping the owner of Hamumu.com might get involved in one, but I'm guessing there's a very very slim chance of that.
