keeveek: When I become Supreme Ruler I will utilize all the people who prefer dubbing over the original audio.
Gonchi: Utilize for what? Or do you mean euthanize?
Not a fan of dubbing, I'm a bit more accepting of it in games though, I outright hate it on films. I prefer having the original audio with text/subs, but I really wish more games did multilingual releases that let you choose whatever you prefer. I'd understand perhaps not including multiple languages on a first release, but why not in those inevitable re-releases or maybe as a downloadable patch?
There use to be a problem with translations and their rights, because many times the game is dubbed and/or translated by a local distributor, so the original company doesn´t own the rights. Now, I think that with online sales and all that stuff many things changed, and the original publisher use to hold the rights for the translations, I think this is the case of the actually published EA games, but in the past it was very different.
Edit: EA Spain exist since many years so that was an stupid point.
For example in Spain the most important distributor was a now extinct company called Erbe; even though I don´t like translations and dubbing in general they use to make a good job, at least they were not disgusting (they took care of the lucasarts games, for example). So the company who owns the intelectual property related to them holds the rights of most of the 90´s and 80´s games translations made for the spanish market.
