Lol people need to read instead of making the same threads over and over again xD

Also FAQ No 7

Is The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt really going to be completely DRM-FREE? It's a brand-new AAA game!

Yes! The GOG.com version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM. Zero. Zip. Nada. This is not only because GOG.com stands for DRM-free gaming but also because CD Projekt RED is sticking to their word and ditching DRM altogether wherever they have control over it. We simply want gamers to experience the game in the best possible way.

Just scroll down for more info ;)

So I think you are given the choice to activate it on gog for a back up copy IF you lose your CD or something....

You do realise that the links you provided apply only to the digital edition sold on GOG.com, right? There's nth in that FAQ you linked to hinting at getting a GOG code with your retail purchase of TW3, in fact the exact opposite (no free GOG backups, at least for now) was stated to people who contacted support. I could try to dig up the relevant post, if you'd like.

JMich posted in another thread that GOG.comLive tweeted that the retail edition of TW3 will be DRM-free, but I haven't seen the tweet myself. If you're interested in it, you could search for it here or maybe JMich has the relevant tweet handy.
Either way, no free GOG backup is guaranteed, at least for the time being.

EDIT: JMich came through - see here.

Devils Advocate here, but The Witcher 2 was meant to be released DRM-free, yet the physical version originally came with SecurRom. It was patched out in the very first patch, but that still does not change the fact that the game was touted as being DRM-free and yet you needed to download a patch to make it so.
I know we are in the internet age and can download patches very easily but if that is the case I have downloaded "patches" to patch out the DRM in Hitman Absolution, Space Marine, Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex HR, TR2013 ............

I like the look of the CE for this game, with the big model. Yet I have learnt form the past to be sceptical about claims from any company. I am not saying that CDProjekt Red is misleading us, only that physical distributors have themselves decided that some form of DRM is a must in anything.

Point noted, Advocatus Diaboli. :P
Here is something interesting you might/might not know; Aside from the Xbox360 publishing deal, CDPR was also sued by Namco-Bandai for the removal of the DRM.

I knew there were quite a few problems with Namco over the Witcher 2. Which is why so many people were surprised when CDProjekt announced they would be releasing through them again with the Witcher 3.
I know Namco forced it to be the first game here with regional pricing, because Australians and others could get it too cheap, which then cut into their physical profits.
I also think there might have been a few bits about the amount of gore actually allowed to be seen by the Aussies too.

Is it not fascinating how much trouble surrounds what is effectively the simple act of developers selling their product to the individuals to use for their hobby.

From what I know, the Australian version's only censorship was the removal of choice from a quest and had nothing to do with gore.
Namco-Bandai's statement:

"In the original version your character Geralt was given the choice of accepting sex ‘as a reward’ for successfully completing this particular side quest. The Australian Classification Board originally refused classification as they deemed the inclusion of ‘sex as a reward’ as not suitable for an MA15+ classification.
The change is only minor, in that the character choice is now made automatically for him. The character and the side quest are still in the game but presented in a slightly different context. No other changes have been made and this change has no impact on gameplay, storyline or character development."
