I recently made a video where I listed five my most loved games, my favorites from since I started playing. I didn't even imagine how hard it would be to choose 5, but in the end I am very happy with my list.

If you want to see the video, it's here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnDMaNpBwMI

But it's in Finnish, so you probably don't understand what I'm saying, but at least you can see my picks. Do you agree with me? And what's your list?

And for people who don't wish to watch the vid, I'll list the games below.

========================
5. Final Fantasy VII
4. Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind
3. Uncharted 2 - Among Thieves
2. Beyond - Two Souls
1. Ufo - Enemy Unknown
=========================

My apologies. If you want, I can delete/edit the post so I won't cause any inconvenience.
First Tier - Top 5 Games
1. The Witcher EE
2. Assassin's Creed II
3. Brütal Legend
4. Heroes of Might and Magic III
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Secondary Tier - Honorable Mentions
6. Oregon Trail II
7. Mark of the Ninja
8. SimCity 2000
9. Crusader Kings II
10. Icewind Dale II

To be fair, slot 10 is generally reserved for whatever I am currently playing. I completely suffer from "This is the best, most fantastic game ever!"-itis with newly played games. :D

Nothing wrong with another one! It's even fun to compare lists across threads and see how people have changed. :D

Do not do that. So there have been others, peoples lists change and it is always nice to see what people regard as good games. Like so many here I have been swayed by a single contributor saying a game is good into making a purchase of a game I might be on the fence with, a top 5/10/20 give people an idea of your gaming, and they might see one they then want to try.

My top 10.... in no real order
Time Commando
Dungeon Siege
Tomb Raider 3
Alan Wake American Nightmare
Super Hexagon
Worms Armageddon
GTA San Andreas
Freelancer
Monkey Island 3
Broken Sword 2 (Original)
Don't worry about my silly self. It's just curious how many repeat threads we do get in here after some time without people noticing. *shrug* Shit happens. ;)

Maybe this'll give me a chance to revise my list a bit... if that's at all possible. Let's see. Can't think of any console game that'd be deserving of a place here, and funnily enough all the games in my list happen to be available on GOG these days. *shrug* In no particular order:

Descent
- Yup. The very first one. Three's quite enjoyable even if it's not quite up to par with the first two, and the second part, while featuring some definite improvements, has some things I do not like, i.e. forever robot respawn stations (ugh!) and some ridiculously hard boss fights. The first one is definitely the crudest, but still the most fun for me to play. It's one of those very rare action/shooter games I can replay without tiring of it.

Wing Commander: Privateer
- It is what I consider to be the best (read most fun) Elite-style game, also doubling as my favorite WC game - the regular WC games are enjoyable enough with all their story bits and exposition, but to me they aren't nearly as fun as Privateer's go-and-make-your-own-scifi adventure.

Master of Orion
- My favorite 4X. I must admit it's a pretty close shave with its sequel and Alpha Centauri, both of which are still excellent, yet either of those two can get pretty drawn out towards the end and get bogged down in micromanagement. MoO's simplicity in design helps it to get past both of those points, for the most part.

RollerCoaster Tycoon
- While its sequels may be considered bigger and better, once again I consider the original the best since it doesn't get bogged down in extra features and some rather unnecessary changes done in the latter two. That said, both 2&3 still stand as great games on their own, but there is just something about the first I appreciate more. *shrug* That's also without nostalgia talking, as I've never actually had the pleasure of playing the first two until they were released on GOG.

King of Dragon Pass
- Another title I had never played until its appearance on GOG. It definitely shows its age, but this is one game that seems to have aged very gracefully despite that fact. Very unique in what it does and has never really been duplicated (probably because it was relatively obscure even at the time of its release). It's one of the best examples why I buy games here. ;)

Honorable mentions:
Heroes of Might & Magic 3, X-Wing Alliance, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Worms

It's a bit curious that my top list consists of all '90s titles. Is there really something that has changed so drastically in the years after? I wouldn't think so, since there are definitely plenty of newer(er) games that I've enjoyed aplenty, but it's a rarity for me to give any of them a consideration for top game. Hm. Then again, there were plenty of other '90s games I really enjoyed and still enjoy, but still wouldn't make my top list for various reasons.

strategy - heroes 3
hack and slash - blade of darkness
rpg - diablo
shooter - return to castle wolfenstein
adventure - myst

:P
TR 2
TR 4
Diablo 2
Commandos BEL
AOE 1 Gold
Oh, it is so hard to narrow it down to five...but my favorite games, and at the same time biggest influences, would probably be:
Fallout 2, HoMM III, Mega Man 3, Silent Hill 2, and Worms 2. Yeah, those are definitely it. Funny how they are all sequels.
Top 10 in alphabetical order. Some old, some very new; all PC:
Adventure - Indiana FoA, Maniac Mansion
RPG - TES: Skyrim, Ultima VII
Sandbox - Minecraft
Shooter - Descent (1), UT99
Simulation - RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
Strategy - Civ V, Stronghold: Crusader

Honorable Mentions: Commandos 2, Contraption Maker (spiritual successor to TIM), Riven, SimTower, SpaceChem, Worms: Armageddon and many, many others that haven't immediately come to mind.

These lists are hard because I'm unsure if I should pick some ancient game because it had a big impact on me 20 years ago, but I wouldn't necessarily enjoy it that much today. Like Doom, Ultima Underworld or Descent 2. But I try to come up with something:

5. GTA 3
4. Ultima Underworld
3. Baldur's Gate 2
2. Quake TeamFortress
1. Starcraft

But I still have lots of black spots of games that might get into that list, if I just knew the games better, or learned to like them. And that list could be something completely different tomorrow, but Starcraft and Quake TF remain in the list, probably in the top places.

But you have not factored in time!

My top five as to when I played them (i.e. the effect they left on me cumulated to now):

Grim Fandango
LBA 1 & 2 (two games perhaps)
Final Fantasy VIII
Dungeon Keeper 2
Tie Fighter
1. Warcraft 3
2. Civilization 4
3. Age of Empires 2
4. Sins of a Solar Empire
5. Pokemon (B/R/Y)
This is a very HARD thing to do in my opinion. I've played MANY a good game. Here are the 5 off the top of my head, in no order:

Fallout 3 ( I know it's not really canon, but I LOVED this game)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion ( The RPG that got me into RPGs)
Civilization 5
Europa Universalis IV
GTA: Vice City
I have no idea what you're saying, but I watched your video anyway :o

Anyway, at the moment, I'm going with this:

5. Day of the Tentacle
4. System Shock 2
3. Binding of Isaac
2. Bioshock
1. Braid
