cptunderpants: Is the Witcher franchise THAT popular in Poland?
Made my evening. :D It's like asking "well this Harry Potter thing, is it THAT popular in the UK?" :P

TigerLord: Funny little thing about Obama.
During an interview with his wife, this must have been two years ago, she was discussing the current content on television (could have been with Barbra Walters) and addressing whether or not Obama did, in fact, watched movies or listened to TV, and it was said Obama was a huge fan of sci-fi.

Apparently, he loved BSG, as Michele Obama said something like "He was depressed for a day when he learned who the final Cylon was, and I have no idea what that meant."

He might not be a gamer, but it's cool anyway :D
Now I respect the man even more.

If anyone is curious about the gifts and the disposition of them here: http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/reference/gifts.html

Oh come on, it's not like Wiedźmin is THAT popular in our country. None of my school friends have read it. I wish it gained the kind of exposure that HP or LOTR did...
Hopefully the media doesn't look into it and pick up on the nudity.
"PRESIDENT RECEIVES POLISH SEX GAME: ARE YOUR KIDS NEXT?"

Yes I agree, I could see Fox News running with this story... even though the gifts are just meant to be a cultural exchange. Either way it's a great game and gamers in Poland should be proud!
It could look like this :)

I remember reading around election time that he had said he was playing Age of Conan. Something to the effect that he liked playing it but he didnt have alot of time to spend with it.

And there I was trying to be friendly towards my polish neighbours and that's what I get. :(

Kidding. :D

It was just funny imho. He, being in a forum hosted by a polish company centered around a polish game from a polish developer and based on a polish fanatasy book from a polish author...and yet he was absolutely clueless. :D

Maybe Gollancz will be faster to finish the translations if the President of the US has something to do with it...

(Can't remember from but I remember someone saying that Obama is a huge 40K nut too and has fairly decent sized chaos and necron armies)

Edit: lol, just thought he'll probably be on later asking how to remap the numpad... he's a lefty too.

Um, I think that story might've just been a bit of humour:

I think there'd be issues of plagarism or copyright violation given Geralt was borrowed from another author's novels (Michael Moorcock's Elric). If it was published elsewhere, that is . . . like the UK or US.

It's very cool that Poland gave a copy to the US President, though . . . even cooler if he actually plays it.
