but not being able of dying 1 time on insane,, that seems stupid for me,,

? That's the whole point of Insane.

If you want the same level of challenge without the "dead is dead" feature, play on Hard.

I thought Insane also was more challenging, with more clever and ruthless AI and what not. I thought that was why people have requested a mod for the permanent death to be removed, since day one, basically; because they want the extra challenge, but not risk losing their progress.

oh indeed,,,
It's not like that. Don't forget you can always hit Esc and load, when in trouble - you don't have to die !

I'm in chapter 2 now, before that I died three times and had to start over at the beginning of chapter 1. You MUST take both levels of backstab protection from the start to avoid instant death and greatly improve your combat fortitude.

Now I'm planning to go all the way to "invincible" with my mage build, which is six talents inside the sword tree. I figure I'll need it to jump around without quen while doing fireballs.

Also, dying during the prologue doesn't count, your saves won't be disabled during that.

Then there's no point playing in Insane, you're only cheating yourself.

For me, I didn't find it harder on Insane, so if I was just going to reload prior to death, I may as well play on Hard.

Think of playing Diablo 2 and using save & exit :P How else would you play since you don't get to have Geralt's perspective (limited by the interface) and there are still bugs or annoyances making some situations uncontrollable ?

For example, you can find yourself stuck in the middle of the harpies at the dream machine, or you die fighting the kayran because thet's how the fighting turned out. Also, I sometimes load the game for quests or cutscenes.

Btw, did you finish the game on impossible or not ?

That's part of the challenge, it's called Insane for a reason.

All you're doing is cheating, and normally I wouldn't care in the slightest as it's your game, but just don't try to pretend it's not.

If you mean Insane then no, I made it as far as the Draug, then I got hit by a barrage of trebouchets.

I will give it another run and I'm pretty sure I'll beat it, but I won't even try until the unresponsive controls are fixed.
Out of interest... can you not periodically backup the save game files?
I mean I agree, no point playing of insane if you do not accept the permanent death situation, but there are situations beyond your control such as game issues or design issues.
So as long as you are being honest to yourself, can you not do that?

Don't be stupid, it's not cheating at all.

Getting stuck between monsters? Sometimes there are stuff on the ground which are obstacles, but not obvious at all. You get stuck in a corner due to a technical reason.

There is also the bug that makes your combat freeze up. It seems to be triggered by the R button. Sometimes it freezes up completely and you have to reload (basically you can't fight but opponents don't damage you either). Otherwise, it freezes up, you can still move the camera but cannot block or do left mouse action; until you take damage... which snaps you out of it. Of course, that could easily be fatal. This is a well documented bug.

I also clearly remember one QTE that you can die from, it's an orange QTE on an equally orange background, in the middle of a fairly interesting cutscene/conversation. = VERY hard to notice unless you are expecting a QTE to appear.

If you die due to technical issues with the game, and reload, I wouldn't call that cheating and I would guess a lot of people wouldn't.

And lastly, this one is just my opinion, but I don't think cut scene deaths are that fair because you don''t know what gerald will say before hand. i.e. the full line is not displayed to you.

It's obviously you who is being stupid, or you can't read, or both.

I never said anything about bugs, I was talking about the heat of battle.

What the hell is wrong with some people, is it so damn hard to read before foaming at the mouth?
