Okay I'm not far into the game yet however I have seen the introduction scene and well frankly the nudity in it was pathetically childish. Triss writhing around totally naked making little moaning noises? Blah.

After seeing it I decided that really its going to detract from the experience for me, so did a little bit of searching and found there's no way of removing it or well making it a bit more mature. The worst part though is I have found the community goes nuts about this topic citing the mature classification and what not as a justification. Personally it just seems bad, and embarrassing to watch.

So anyway to phrase this as a question, what do you folks think? Are the sex/nudity scenes helpful or detrimental to the overall feel of the game?

P.S.: Yes violence features prominently but that serves to further game play. I would have the same complaint if I was just watching people get stabbed and killed needlessly.
ROFL, really?

This is just a pathetic posting. This is a role player game about a Witcher Geralt. Geralt is a womanizer who is known for his sexural prowess. The guy doesn't care if the woman is even human. He will seduce all beautiful women, human and non human and some very non human (Witcher 1).

A criticism that the game is geared towards too much towards men when you are role playing the most well known womanizer in the empire is ludicrious.

Get over it or just don't play. Seriously WtF!

CDP states the game has mature content of sexual nature. It's plastered everywhere on the web. You collected sex cards in the first game. This is part of the Witcher 2 series.

This ranks as the dumbest criticism I've seen about Witcher so far.

If you want to play a game that caters to all sexuality, female, male, homo with PG13 censorship, go play Dragon Age 2. BioWare is especially proud that their game satisfies the sexuality of all players.

I feel that it serves to make the world seem more realistic. Why delve into all the other issues and realities of a medieval setting (or any setting for that matter) without also including sex? It doesn't feel out of place to me, because there are no compromises in the rest of the game world either. They also don't do it in a stupid half assed manner, like other games, so I appreciate that.

While the above poster seems far too angry, I will agree that the sex in TW2 does suit Geralt's character, more so, I believe, than in the Witcher 1. However, I have only read the 2 english translations and 2 fan translation of some short stories.

Grow a pair
No way to remove you say? Ever heard of right clicking? The videos with nudity can be clicked away if you're scared of a pair of pixel titties.

And, so, you are brave for bringing it up.

There is very little of it and you can skip or avoid 99% of it.

And, Geralt is a hound.
I don't think the complaint is against the nudity or womanizing or that Geralt is one macho man. It is rather problematic that some of the sex plots get outdone by porn movie plots. Screenplay should be better and more in depth for a convincing sexual thrill. I partially agree.
And what content is there in Witcher 2 that is out of line anyhow? It's not rated R content. There are PG13 movies with more nudity than this game.

Oh no, I saw Triss bum. My virgin eyes! Writhing? What game is she playing. Rolling over to rest her head on Geralt's chest? The whore! What a slut! Later in other scenes we see insinuations of sex, but it's never shown fully. It's far from tasteless or pornographic.

I don't know how else to describe this criticism other than stupid.

BTW for anyone who agrees with this idiocy, YOU CAN SKIP ALL SCENES BY CLICKING YOUR RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON GENIUSES!

Yes. But that would put us in the minority.

When you're selling to 13->40yr old mouth breathers, there's only one thing that works...

look at DA/DA2/ME/ME 2... they have virtually no original content but plenty of awkwardly puerile sex scenes... yet these are some of the highest rated examples of generic drivel... ;)

Aside from this, and one or two other niggles, the series is still in my top ten most enjoyable gaming experiences...

Meh... I can take it or leave it... I can understand how it might be offensive to some female gamers (possibly even some "male" ones as well), butt to be honest, it kinda goes hand-in-hand with the central character, you know, the man-whore....

And if some cyber-geek wants to fap over cartoon pixels, I say let em...it's not harming anyone.... and it leaves more real women for those of us that can actually get laid IRL....

Exactly! Geralt is not Geralt without his sexacapes. It's a central characteristic of his. It's a solid reputation that he's built for himself. Women throughout the lands may not know of his every deed, but they know he's a Witcher and he can plough better than anyone else.

If female or male gamers have a problem with that, then are definitely playing the wrong game.

And just to repeat for all the prudes who haven't figured out they are playing a ROLE PLAYING game.

YOU CAN SKIP ALL THE SCENES THAT OFFEND YOUR PURITAN EYES BY CLICKING THE RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON. YOU CAN SKIP THROUGH THE SEXUALLY IMPLIED DIALOGUE BY CLICKING THE RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON OR SPACEBAR. OMG GENIUS!

The game industry hasn't actually delved into this in a proper way before, so I was impressed with CDPR's ability to at least make it seem more realistic than in any other game.

Don't know why I am still in this thread, but why would a woman be more likely offended?
Well I admit I preferred the sex card of TW1 because they added an arty look to it that left more to the imagination. In TW2 the sex feels like a decent erotic movie, so yes, a bit ridiculous in some aspects but altogether okay, and the sex scene feet well within the rest of the story.

As to the fact that the sex scenes are geared toward males, well, you’ll have to live with it. TW2 is adapted from a book series, and the hero of the series, Geralt of Rivia, is a heterosexual womanizing male. If you don’t like that, I’m afraid you can just go and pick another game.
LOL .. most or all the female gamers at Bioware Social Network do not seem to have a problem with nudity in this game and actually say many great things about a certain Elven Bath! And there are many female gamers at BSN!
