This game was way ahead of it’s time and deserves to be remembered. Imagine a game on the original Xbox accidentally made for VR. The game has many flaws, and won’t be for everyone, but the people who finish it will find themselves with a truly rewarding experience. Not just for having beaten a difficult game, but also for finishing a truly interesting and entertaining story. I love this game even if most people haven’t heard of it.

Breakdown is not just another FPS; it’s a groundbreaking masterpiece, a game that pushed the boundaries of its time. Its stunning visuals and deep environmental interaction make it stand out, but what truly makes it an unforgettable experience is its unique and gripping way of storytelling and character development. The game dares to break the mold with a hybrid combat system that blends fast-paced shooting action with intense hand-to-hand combat, creating an electrifying gameplay experience. Adding to this is a captivating storyline: a global crisis, an alien invasion, and a brave yet mysterious ally. All of this fully immerses you in the role of a true hero destined to save humanity. And the climax… simply legendary. A final battle that will blow your mind, with a level of spectacle that few games have ever achieved. Breakdown is not just a video game—it’s an unforgettable experience and one of the most underrated gems in gaming history.
I first found this game on the demo disc for the official Xbox magazine I can not tell you how many times I replayed that demo but when time came for me to give my parents a list of things I would want as a present for my birthday, Breakdown was in the first spot on that list. While the game has some fairly large flaws it stands out for trying things no other games at the time was trying, and having one of the best plot twists I have seen done to this day. I actually still own my original Xbox and my copy of this game, and every couple of years I will go back to it and play though the game again and I'd love to be able to share that experience with others.
Would love to play this again! super Nostalgic. It was a pretty fun game for the times. I don't think it was a blockbuster but still quite fun and original. at least for me anyways

Well I had my first console a Xbox one x fat and I didn't know what to play I didn't have big Money or a card for anything digital so I'd go to a second hand market and get old games for cheap when buying Xbox original game's I'd just check the compatibility list I saw this is supported and the cover looked interesting mysterious I bought it for 8$ and when I boot it up at home I was lost in it the atmosphere the mystery the storyline the unbelievable combination of moves I was studying for hours the mysterious hallucinations and the new odd enemies it was really good so I started to wonder why nobody knows about it I only found 5-8 small youTube videos saying it's good a hidden gem when moving countries I had to sell my Xbox couldn't take the huge old setup with me therefore I didn't finish the game 6 hour's in it really miss it but having little money I can't afford risking buying a old Xbox and a new one is expensive in our house there's a old laptop and maybe I'll Build a cheap PC so if gog ads this game for 5-8$ I'd gladly buy it under a sale to play at home it's not demanding and is amazing I wanna finish it I wonder what happens next in the game after the 6 hours I played I miss it,it really stuck to my mind,I'm surprised two more people remember it and we met here with idea of revisiting it through gog.

Breakdown was such a wondrous experience for me growing up. I had never played a FPS that played and acted like this. Melee combat as a FPS focus? Unheard of! The story was so incredible and full of twists and turns that I was hooked, playing all the way through to the end. I really wish this game had gotten noticed and love, because I always hope for a sequel or remake of it. It deserves to be seen and played by more people. The fact there are other people posting their memories of the game makes my heart so much lighter, as I felt like I was the only person to ever play this game. Happy to be wrong.
Breakdown had the single best 'superhero' moments in any form of media, ever. An ambitious sim/shooter/brawler, Breakdown never quite got all it's elements to work perfectly together. Despite this Breakdown had some of the greatest moments in gaming, a re-release (especially if it contained some quality-of-life improvements) would be amazing.
Undoubtedly one of the most underrated games I've ever played. The gameplay is a kinda clunky but fun, challenging, and uniquely charming blend of brawler and FPS combat. The story is superb and the soundtrack is pretty good too. Would love to see a PC release.
Absolutely amazing and brutally difficult first-person brawler than unfortunately never got the sequel it deserved. Fell in love with it from the moment I played the demo from the OXM back in the day.

Beyond being ahead of it's time, it was a genre mix that we didn't know that we needed. With various plot twists and turns, this game is a hall of fame game that was never given the chance it deserved that ultimately has cemented itself in my personal Mount Rushmore of gaming.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
