timppu: I had a similar feeling when looking on those pictures and the video. I didn't see much of difference, mainly that one looked more yellow and the other more gray-ish, or something. Different tint. Other than that they looked the same.
- A lot of light sources and other lighting effects were removed
- Bloom effects have been turned up to 11, obscuring a lot of detail around signs etc.
- Many textures were changed for some reason & look much worse
- Some textures are missing entirely
- A lot of reflection effects were removed, e.g. on cars, plants, and other shiny objects
- The DC suffers from a lot of pop-in between high/low detail versions of various objects and it occurs at an extremely short distance

There are also many other differences throughout the Director's Cut. It's also a lot more buggy: https://steamcommunity.com/app/238010/discussions/0/46476145100250684/

Anyway, if DXHR ever does get released here I'd hope that both versions will be made available so people can play whichever one they prefer.
Thanks for your support!
I'd be all for this as long as it includes both the DC and original version. As a newer fan, the DC is just fine IMO.

Being a "newer" fan has nothing to do with it being uglier and horribly balanced.
somebody should create a wish explicitly for the "Original Version"

I found the DC version to be unplayable on PC. The stuttering was so bad that I had to uninstall after 5 hours. It runs fine on PS3 so for anyone who wants to play the DC version the PS3 version is the way to go. Though be warned that inventory management can be a hassle.

Yeah, the original release had loading stutter too but it was patched and fixed up nicely. The DC launched with the same stutter and it was never patched. So throw that in on top of the uglier graphics and horrible DLC balancing.

And the many other bugs that were fixed in the original release but returned with the DC...

On a side note, until it gets a proper DRM-free release I've found that DXHR and TML works well with the Goldberg emulator. It needs a steam_interfaces.txt to be generated, and I also configure it to report Steam as being in offline mode (not sure if this is needed but I always set it anyway).

Should it ever get a GOG release I pretty much have all the work done for making a Wine wrapper for it already :)

That one may get completed even if the "DC" version comes (because that wish doesn't specify a version), which is why I suggested creating a wish with "(Original Version)" explicitly in the title. Since that's what you're interested in, please create this wish: "Deus Ex Human Revolution (Original Version)"

It's not uglier, though. I saw the comparisons, the DC looks a lot better, just "yellower".
I can't create wish "Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Original version)" because it's automatically removing. I don't know why.

With my nickname, it's the least I can do for the series. :D
Thanks!

It *is* uglier, as you should be able to see in the comparisons I posted earlier in the thread - LOD pop-in at very short distances (distracting when you're moving about and nearby objects are shifting between low and high poly meshes as you move), missing lighting effects, missing reflection effects, excessive bloom effects obscuring detail on many objects, many textures inexplicably changed for the worse in addition to being reduced quality etc.

Not sure where you get the impression the DC is a lot "yellower" - the usual complaint in that respect is that the yellow filter is absent in the DC. Personally I dislike the filter so I normally disable it in the original release by disabling post-processing.
