I saw the eyes of those kids, a few didn’t lose their light.

I also saw others, whose gaze was empty and traumatizing.

I was shown arabic writing in a math class of 20 Yazidi children and still remember how a little girl cried, only because a chair fell over.

I saw a bit of the hell, that you escaped from.

I didn’t see, what happened before that and didn’t have to live through your exhausting escape.

I am happy and glad that you made it here. That you left the IS and the war behind you and didn’t drown in the Mediterranean.

But I fear, you aren’t safe here.

Burning refugee homes, physical attacks on refugees and a brown [Referring to brown-shirts] mob that moves through the streets.

As far as I know Selin Gören was forced to perform oral sex on one of her attackers...according to German law that falls under the definition of rape (forced oral sex is rape in German law just like forced vaginal or anal penetration would be).

The most sensible way to deal with this situation would be for people such as yourself to sponsor refugees. YOU take them into YOUR homes, and you're 100% responsible for any crimes they commit, meaning that if a kind, gentle refugee happens to rape or murder someone, you'll be sharing a prison cell with him.

My mom called yesterday. Bit of a drama back in the ol' homestead. Eight male Syrian refugees are living next door in the abandoned school house, and have done so for over a year. Fine people, every single one of them. Formerly ten; but of course finding work in a 1100 soul village is a thing of impossibility, so two have left in the meantime. My mom gave one of them, who had studied theatre science back in Syria, piano lessons; and two have even made it into the Protestant church service December 24th, which I considered a tremendous show of respect. And on Christmas, I mean, because they basically have that empty schoolhouse to themselves, they had invited a few relatives for the holidays. Among them a student from the town I presently live in.

Who seems to have had a bit of a breakdown seeing that his family has really made a home among the kind hearted people of that teensy village. And he doesn't really know anyone over here. He's just alone and scared, and the mounting racial tension doesn't help jack shit with the being scared.

So yesterday my mom asked if I'd be willing to meet with the guy, just to kick off the social relations for a bit.
