Sabin_Stargem: While I do support filters, I do not think sexual media should be suppressed in favor of violent media. That sort of thing simply doesn't make any ethical sense. Pro-violence promotion at the expense of sexuality has implications about the values of a society. It should be the opposite, simply because sex by itself doesn't hurt people.
This makes sense. A single option for hiding only "sexy" games would show a message by itself.

Now, a tool for filtering games according to thrir PEGI rating might be useful for some gogers. Also filters for ultra violence, explicit horror, and maybe other categories, like considering common phobias (spiders, broccoli...? :)

LegoDnD: The thread was literally started with a request for a feature which is already present.
No. No it isn't. Not in a form worth a damn. What we have, is based on a tags. And I already spoke multiple times on how worthless GOG's tags system is. In this case it is one tag - "sexual content". Not all games with sexual content, just like not every film with a sex scene belongs on porn hub. I don't want to hide the Wasteland games or Larry or the Witcher. I want to hide the actual porn.

Honestly an "anime graphics" tag which does not seem to exist would be more useful for me, since I have no interest in any of those either, and 90% of porn games seem to be anime anyway.

Also, the current system still requires me to find the tag and click to hide corresponding games every time I search the store. What was asked for by the OP was the option to hide a selection permanently.

Of course, none of that really matter, because predictably the thread has been highjacked by a crazed censorship proponent on one hand, and the equaly predictable group that wants to pretend that people who simply want a convenient way to exclude uninteresting games from their own store search are also crazy censorship proponents on the other.

My own view on porn was best expressed by president Bartlet on the West Wing.

Better yet, GOG should just advance their tag system so that people can hide games with a specific tag altogether. It'd be great for this and for other stuff; for example, say one person isn't interested in sports games. With a system like that they can hide the entire category so that their store results are more accurate to what they're looking for.

Amen to that.

renegade042: I've spent many hours browsing GoG games, don't recall seeing any nudity, what are we talking about here?
Leisure Suit Larry? Could anyone please provide an example...for research purposes...
AFAIK, no game card in GOG shows explicit nudity.

JuWalk: Several huge wall of lies and bullying...
Wow! You’re still making up lies!

Again… I have never said you can only play games that I approve of. Either point to where I said that, or stop making things up.
What I have said is, porn games are designed to objectify and degrade women, and it’s about time women were shown the same respect men are. Every time I speak up about this, you jump in, and start your bullying tactics again. Who are you, to decide that my opinion doesn’t count?

I don’t go to the game page for porn games. You know as well as I do that screenshots are added to the carousel on the front page. Why should I be forced to see this when visiting a game site? Yes, this is supposed to be a game site, not a porn site. Yet you are demanding porn. And you bully and insult anyone who doesn’t like it. Is that how you get your kicks?

No matter how much you rant and rave, the fact remains that porn games are designed to degrade and objectify women.

No, I’m not some heroine, and I’ve never claimed to be. I have no idea where you got that from. But I am one who stands up to you. Most other women give up after a while, because people like you belittle us and ridicule us so much. More bullying tactics.

Oh… you definitely have a bad attitude towards women. Your insults in this thread prove that.

HappyPunkPotato: Once again, it was an example of how people might be affected by something but feel unable to open up about it. Once again you're essentially be quiet and go away.
It's a discussion forum not a support group, every time you post something it makes it open for discussions and by extension disagreement, if somebody wants to "open up" about something without the risk of any opposing opinion then it's definitely not the right place to do so.

Telika: Oh look. Someone placing themselves between a gamer and his pixel titties.
Maybe peoples should try to stop self proclaiming themselves as some sort of moral authority and try to unilaterally impose to other what they are allowed to play / watch / enjoy.

Telika: but toy shops selling logo mickey mouse next to assrape simulator xxx-treme (and advertising them side by side) will probably end up raising an eyebrow at some point.
You mean a "toy" shop for adults...

1.5 If you're over 18, then welcome! If you're between 16 and 18, before we extend an equally warm welcome, please ask your parent or guardian to review and approve this Agreement on your behalf (because in some countries people under a certain age cannot legally enter into contracts like this Agreement). If you’re not 16 yet you cannot have a GOG account or use the GOG services because legally we cannot handle personal data of children without a special parental or guardian’s permission (but your parents/guardians are welcome to sign up themselves).
There are tons of games on Gog that are definitely not meant for children and that was a thing long before "adult" games started appearing.

JuWalk: Not a topic, but a specific message. As has been said several times, I'm all for adding filters too. The more options, the better. Just like games)
Ah sorry, I meant "the topic of banning games" but didn't phrase it well! I know we both agree on the filters (and generally on the not banning of games despite our disagreements as to when it might become necessary/acceptable and what should be considered when deciding on that).

You missed the point, I was trying to explain why it might seem like hardly anyone is affected by porn when in fact people might be but don't speak about it. I was not suggesting it should be a support group but calling people stupid and the various other insulting comments that have been made in this thread are hardly just "disagreeing" and quite the opposite to promoting "discussussion".

I would say that when peoples are pushing their opinion as a "fact" and calling for an outright ban based on it they are already way past the realm of "discussion"...

But I didn't miss your point I just disagree with it, I find that given the subject matter (i.e. asking for game censorship) this discussion remained mostly civil, criticizing/calling silly somebody's argument doesn't mean insulting nor bullying them. What you see as "insulting comments" I mostly only see it as normal forum banter.

Which is why people might not want to admit to having an issue with porn which was my point that you are still missing (or ignoring). To address your point, I think when you're having a heated disagreement with someone, calling them stupid and telling them to go to hell moves past normal banter and into the realms of unnecessary insult. This discussion has definitely been more civil than some I've seen on here though.
It doesn't really matter who ignored what and if (I haven't read such posts) someone called someone else stupid or not. Going back and forth about that serves no purpose at all rather than being right.

If we players really could decide something and it was a democratic decision, then by now it's quite clear what the result would be :)
A big 'no' to a ban, same for a "behind a courtain" room only for games with sexual content and a 'yes plese' to filters
Calling us little boys when porn in itself is for adults and is illegal for little boys.
Though the objectifying women part in fiction is a little weird topic.
As one says it's already an object and you can't objectify an object one man said, but yeah weird logic.
The objectifying problem is for real women, fictional women are not real.
If you are connecting this for real women you should use that in real porn argument and not fictional where they have weird proportions as it's mostly fantasy based.
But yeah some people will still say it objectifies them, but should you really feel this way in fiction and not go to the problem of real porn.
I just say that i disagree with the opinion that it's meant to objectify real women, as in fiction it pretty much goes both ways men and women in fiction aren't real.
The only thing i can agree that it's your opinion.

FrodoBaggins: snip
Several huge wall of lies and bullying
Bullying, huh? Didn't you start insulting people first, in your very first post in this thread?

I have never said you can only play games that I approve of
And again lies. "I fully support banning the porn games" How will other GoG users buy these games if they are banned? That's right - no way. Therefore, they will only be able to buy games that you approve. Or "do not disapprove," if you prefer that wording.

What I have said is, porn games are designed to objectify and degrade women, and it’s about time women were shown the same respect men are.
The man is not treated like that. The man is treated with respect. It's about time we stopped getting treated as objects
These words were, at least, excessive and unfair exaggeration, if not something more.
1) Not all women have the same opinion on this matter as you do. Should their opinions be simply ignored?

2) There are games (albeit in a smaller number, for now) in which role reversal takes place and what you call "objectification" occurs in relation to male characters. The existence of such games contradicts part of your statements.

3) I still have not heard an explanation of how exactly what happens in games affects real people. In relation to fictional characters, a lot of things are permissible that are unacceptable in relation to real people. And the fact that someone in games seduces, beats, tortures, kills, eats fictional characters alive does not mean at all that he approves of such actions in real life and, moreover, does something similar himself. It is the ignorance of this simple fact that gives rise to suspicions that you do not separate reality and fiction. Or maybe when you say "we" you write yourself into the ranks of the game characters, but I just didn't understand it? If so, it is, of course, a completely different matter. In this case, I will have something to think about before continuing our discussion.

4) Why do you stubbornly ignore the fact that games with erotic content are very, VERY different, and not all of them fit the label that you constantly try to put on them? Or in general, any demonstration of bed scenes, in your opinion, is an objectification of a woman? If so, we will have to ban thousands of non-porn films...

I don’t go to the game page for porn games. You know as well as I do that screenshots are added to the carousel on the front page.
And again, you're not being completely honest. On the main page, only banners are shown, not screenshots from games. And if you open a search for the corresponding tag, you can clearly see that, with the exception of two or three games (including Lula: The Sexy Empire, added to the site many years ago), banners do not make any special emphasis on certain parts of the bodies, not to mention about demonstrating something frank. I remember the heated debate in the themes of Detective Girl of the Steam City and Mary Skelter 2, but I don't see a hint of anything obscene or "objectifying" in their banners. On the banner of the first, taking into account the style of drawing, it is not entirely clear at all - a girl or a guy is depicted there.

Why should I be forced to see this when visiting a game site?
If you want to never see erotic games - demand filters that will allow YOU PERSONALLY to never see them again, and not to delete these games for everyone. Including for women who also play them. And then you and I will not only stop arguing, but in general we will fight side by side with the stubborn technical department of GoG

Yes, this is supposed to be a game site, not a porn site. Yet you are demanding porn
You may not like it very much, but these are also games. The presence of sex scenes does not affect the gameplay elements found in non-erotic games of the same genres. Games are sold in the game store, what a disgrace!
Your outrage would be appropriate if GoG started re-uploading videos from PornHub. Although regular videos are also sold on this gaming site, by the way (https://www.gog.com/ru/movies). Would you like to complain about this, for starters?

And you bully and insult anyone who doesn’t like it
And again about this. You first started offending people, and now you're trying to play the victim? If you start a discussion with an arrogant and contemptuous tone, you should not be offended when you don’t get a respectful tone in return. If you want respect and understanding, learn to show it yourself. You are not a goddess or even a queen, before whom everyone is obliged to kowtow, even when she behaves impolitely.

No matter how much you rant and rave, the fact remains that porn games are designed to degrade and objectify women
A fact is something that is supported by evidence. Your statements are just an opinion and nothing more. As I said above, there are women whose opinion is opposite to yours. Women who play these games and enjoy them. Why is your opinion more valuable and more correct than their opinion? On what basis do you call your personal opinion a fact? Above, the person gave links to studies indicating the fallacy of your opinion. So there is no need to talk about any facts on your part.

But I am one who stands up to you.
Wow, the level of pathos of this phrase is breathtaking! I just sit at my house, play video games and do no harm to anyone. What are you up against there, couch warrior? You may not have noticed, but it was you who created the conflict, not me or anyone else. It was your "I am for the ban of these games" that gave rise to the need to fight back.
It doesn't concern you or anyone else what people do as long as their actions are within the law. Judging by the fact that porn games are quietly sold in official stores, they are still not prohibited by law. That's all.

Oh… you definitely have a bad attitude towards women. Your insults in this thread prove that.
And this is again, for the umpteenth time, lies, slander and an attempt to use belonging to the female gender as a trump card. Your gender in this situation does not matter in the slightest (how should I know, maybe a sexless Martian is sitting on the other side of the screen? As they say - "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a cat"). All that was said was a reaction to the POSITION of a person who demands to take away from everyone what seems bad to him. It doesn't matter - whether you are a woman, a man, a sexless alien/robot or even a hermaphrodite chinchilla - this would not change my answers to your messages in any way.

Exactly!

P.S.:
“Overall, the ‘moral panic’ over video games and sexualization is pretty much following the ‘paint-by-numbers’ pattern of the video game debate. Lots of hyperbole and moral outrage, but very little evidence that video games are causing any ‘harm’ to either male or female players,” Ferguson told PsyPost.
A professor of psychology accurately described exactly what happens regularly on this forum...
