Sins of the father

D: The Game, a psychological horror adventure through dark family secrets, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com.

The halls of a big Los Angeles hospital are riddled with dead bodies, the gruesome work of a mass murderer. Several other innocent people have been taken hostages by the madman, who has barricaded himself inside. When Laura Harris, a scholar in San Francisco, finds out, she rushes to the hospital to investigate. Why? The man responsible for the bloodbath is the well-respected supervisor of the hospital and also her father.
Time is not on Laura's side, however, as she only has two hours to navigate the shifting realities of the hospital, overcome the challenges in her path, and try to solve the most sinister puzzle of all: the reason why her quiet father turned into this bloodthirsty monster.

Explore a hospital drenched in blood and discover the dark forces that guide your father's killing hand in D: The Game, DRM-free on GOG.com.

damien: I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that 3DO version is better than the PC version. Anyone know anything about this?
The Horde on 3DO is better too. Better videos, better music, maybe something else, can't remember. Videos are usually better, while on PC they were interlaced.
Consoles had better guts at the time.
If GOG is working alphabetically through the old titles to release, then I dearly hope the next one is D/Generation.

Won't kick that one out of bed either.
Oh my, D! Can't say this game is my cup of tea. I remember being a kid and ending up very disappointed about what "D" meant and learning Laura's Secret.

It was a pretty unique game though since you had a limited amount of time to complete it... although for me it was its downfall. Most adventure games lasted weeks, not a few hours, and since back then I couldn't afford to buy games it frustrated me cause my parents wouldn't buy another one in months.

Either way, it's a cool release, it brings back childhood memories. :)

Excellent. Years ago I bought this and even back then I had real issues trying to get it to work. Well might have been a year or two later and no joy (probably a new OS).

A no fuss copy of this from GOG. No brainer I'll pick it up later tonight.

catpower1980: Wah, those screenshots.... So exagerated that it looks more like a "retro" filter than what we had back in the days.

So, is there an option in-game to remove scanlines and interlacing???
avatar
Venita: There are no options in-game for anything. I tried tinkering with the DOSBOX config but I couldn't get rid of the interlacing.
Then consider it as a part of the game ''neo noir-esque-ish'' type of thing ;P

wolfsite: Never realized this was on PC. I got a Playstation long box version of this game.
there is a saturn version too
both games are rather expensive these days
Hmm, I don't know if this is something for me. I've never heared of it before. After reading some articles it seems to have a major flaw. No saving option and about 2h gameplay with time limit. Time runs out, you lose and have to restart from the beginning.
Well, now. I played this on the Playstation; wasn't really a fan of the way the game was structured (time limit, no saves), and when I got stuck midway through, I couldn't find it in myself to play the first half of the game again. Still, it was interesting, and I'm pleased to see it come here.

All your informations are spot on but this game can be played pretty relaxed.
Me & my friends didn't know about the time limit when we played this. It took 1 hour 38 to beat it and we took even a little break to talk about a scene or two (and since the game had no pause function, the timer went on).

samuraigaiden: A Director's Cut was released in Japan only for the 3DO featuring additional content. Don't know if there is anything special about the original 3DO release though.
I was hoping to find some info on HCG101 (which btw is one of the greatest video gaming websites), but didn't really help.

Thiev: yeah, think about 'do you want the French D' when adding language versions... -_-'

MaxFulvus: What is a "French D" ? O_o
D’Artagnan?
