Losing is fun.

Prison Architect, the only prison you'll never want to leave, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com featuring GOG Galaxy achievements with a 33% launch discount.

After two years of alpha - Prison Architect, the premiere prison sim, is finally complete. Since its alpha premiere, it has been played by millions and became something of a household name in the indie scene, and for good reason: Prison Architect is a deep web of interlocking systems that interact with each other in complex, sometimes hilarious ways. Combined with a Dwarf Fortress-like approach, even the most insignificant problem can snowball into total chaos - but no matter what happens, losing is fun.
Playing Prison Architect is like watching the inner workings of a clock - one that you made all by yourself - and the term "like clockwork" will take on a new, particularly satisfying meaning. You'll also tackle moral dilemmas (should you find yourself anything but indifferent). Are you about precision & efficiency, do you believe criminals should be put to work, or would you prefer to do everything in your power to reintegrate them into society? Prison Architect will not be judgmental.
The Prison Architect release introduces two major features: Story Chapters, and Escape Mode.
Story Chapters are a way for new players to get acquainted with the many facets of Prison Architect. In what resembles a condensed alpha experience, the Story Chapters will increase in complexity and introduce more and more features to the game as you go on. You'll be running a full-blown, fully-simulated prison before you know it.
So you've built your prison. You've optimised your fortress of righteousness. Now, are you up to the challenge of escaping your very own creation? In an entertaining gameplay reversal, Escape mode puts you in the shoes of just another prisoner and tasks you with two goals: 1) Get by. 2) Get out. Build up your character from zero to anti hero with a multitude of perks, smuggle a teaspoon and dig your way out, or build up a reputation and start an all-out revolution.

Alongside your game, you can pick up the Aficionado DLC, and score access to the official Artbook as well as OST.

Losing is fun in Prison Architect, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, October 13, 2:59 PM GMT.

dick1982: prisons for profit. only in amurika.....
And UK, and Australia, and for a short while in the past in Canada...

phaolo: I watched an LP of it ages ago.
It was a fun little game, but.. 30€??
You must be kidding.
What do you expect, prices go up at each release now. Next year you'll need a mortgage to buy indie games.
Sound interesting. But I suck at management games.

Hmm... now if this was linkable with The Escapists for multiplayer...
low rated

Ooooooh.
Yeah, er... not a great price, considering that I can get the game, the aficionado DLC, Uplink, Darwinia, Multiwinia and DEFCON on steam for the price of the base game. The DRM-Free tax really got high this time.

It is a really nice game and an A+-example of how early access should be (although I don't buy Early Access games). Considering how most Triple-A title these day cost between 49 and 59€ this is a fair price and it is worth every penny.

yyahoo: Will buy it here eventually... Got it through Humble ages ago in both an early access Steam key and a DRM-free download. Looks like the Humble DRM-free DL isn't updated yet, as it's dated 8/28/15

jamyskis: Yeah, I've just tweeted Introversion to ask if the Humble DRM-free version will be updated. I suspect it will soon, I just imagine they're dealing with the two major releases today (Steam and GOG).
Any response yet?

I see you're a Perry Tratchett fan.
It's the same price on the humble store. 33% launch window discount. Maybe the discount wasn't being shown on GoG at first? It's 19.99 if you buy it today.

For 29.99 you can ALSO buy introversion's library here.

I'm concerned though to not have access to steam workshop. Is there still a way to play other people's prisons with the drm free version?

This is an EXCELLENT game. How anyone could think 30$ is overpriced for this... If you like management style games there are 100s of hours of entertainment. I'm also looking forward to playing the escape mode!

I'd imagine you can just email or upload the savefile to a friend.
I loved the Startopia prison mission. Looks like major fun.
"£13.39"
"£0.20 OFF ANY FUTURE PURCHASE."

Now that, GOG, is what tolerable levels of regional pricing actually looks like.
Why is it, everytime there's a new release the forums crap themselves Gog.

Anyway, mostly the same price as Hotline Miami 2 when it came out, seems decent for a decent new indie type release.

Seems like this is how you get gamers attention, create something original and fun looking (Like Kerbal Space Program) Instead of just copying something else that did well, and you'll do pretty well.

I might have to take you up on that launch discount.

Zoidberg: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/prisonarchitect_storefront

Am I missing something or is it cheaper on Humble Store? DRM free AND a Steam key...
avatar
yyahoo: Same price in $...
For Germany it's 17.32€ (full price 25.99€) on Humble Store, while it's 18.69€ (full price 27.99€) on GOG. So it's indeed not only regionally priced, but also more expensive on GOG (for just a DRM-free download) than on other stores where you get the DRM-free download + a Steam key. :-(

Ahem!

(also wasnt the only game in this genre prior to PA from what ive gather during early access)

PA may be a little different, but I wouldnt say its an entirely original idea by any means
