Losing is fun.

Prison Architect, the only prison you'll never want to leave, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com featuring GOG Galaxy achievements with a 33% launch discount.

After two years of alpha - Prison Architect, the premiere prison sim, is finally complete. Since its alpha premiere, it has been played by millions and became something of a household name in the indie scene, and for good reason: Prison Architect is a deep web of interlocking systems that interact with each other in complex, sometimes hilarious ways. Combined with a Dwarf Fortress-like approach, even the most insignificant problem can snowball into total chaos - but no matter what happens, losing is fun.
Playing Prison Architect is like watching the inner workings of a clock - one that you made all by yourself - and the term "like clockwork" will take on a new, particularly satisfying meaning. You'll also tackle moral dilemmas (should you find yourself anything but indifferent). Are you about precision & efficiency, do you believe criminals should be put to work, or would you prefer to do everything in your power to reintegrate them into society? Prison Architect will not be judgmental.
The Prison Architect release introduces two major features: Story Chapters, and Escape Mode.
Story Chapters are a way for new players to get acquainted with the many facets of Prison Architect. In what resembles a condensed alpha experience, the Story Chapters will increase in complexity and introduce more and more features to the game as you go on. You'll be running a full-blown, fully-simulated prison before you know it.
So you've built your prison. You've optimised your fortress of righteousness. Now, are you up to the challenge of escaping your very own creation? In an entertaining gameplay reversal, Escape mode puts you in the shoes of just another prisoner and tasks you with two goals: 1) Get by. 2) Get out. Build up your character from zero to anti hero with a multitude of perks, smuggle a teaspoon and dig your way out, or build up a reputation and start an all-out revolution.

Alongside your game, you can pick up the Aficionado DLC, and score access to the official Artbook as well as OST.

Losing is fun in Prison Architect, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, October 13, 2:59 PM GMT.

Sachys: Ahem!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison_Tycoon

(also wasnt the only game in this genre prior to PA from what ive gather during early access)

PA may be a little different, but I wouldnt say its an entirely original idea by any means
I havn't seen this game before... now I want that one too.

Still, prison tycoon gets a lot of negative reviews, prison architect gets lots of positive reviews.

Nope. I'll give 'em a few days. There is at least no update in my Humble account as of yet.

oddly, some of those are due to the bugs - the goddamned hilarious bugs that are now all but gone.

I want my murderous dogs back!!!!

Good news! Just checked mine and the date is now listed as 10/6/15.
Real nice release, and an awesome introversion discount! I like it...
This game looks a bit like fun.
2 paid DLC on release? Come on.....

Zoidberg: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/prisonarchitect_storefront

Am I missing something or is it cheaper on Humble Store? DRM free AND a Steam key...
You sound suspiciously like a certain other person who would rag on about Humble. come on mate.
avatar
yyahoo: Same price in $...
avatar
PaterAlf: For Germany it's 17.32€ (full price 25.99€) on Humble Store, while it's 18.69€ (full price 27.99€) on GOG. So it's indeed not only regionally priced, but also more expensive on GOG (for just a DRM-free download) than on other stores where you get the DRM-free download + a Steam key. :-(
Dont give a shite about steam. But GOG lists rrp for AUD as $29.99 and discounted price as $19.99. Could be worse i guess..

Awesome to see this here, even during the alpha it was very enjoyable and well done.

I can't afford to buy it here again though.
Hmm. I'll have to wishlist for now.

phaolo: I watched an LP of it ages ago.
It was a fun little game, but.. 30€??
You must be kidding.
Bought the in-game name Copy a long time ago for a mere approx 3 USD... on Steam. xD

Fairfox: I'm in this. Not my face, mind.
I too - though my "name in game" prisoner actually looks like me.

Also, they treat this release as if the game hadn't been already around for 3 years..
It's their right to do so, but I'll just wait for a massive price drop.

looks fun, but 4GB of RAM and graphics card requirements will make it unplayable on my old Mint GOG machine... :(

it definately doesnt need 4gb of ram unless you manage to build a superclink full to the brink with maybe 5000 prisoners. I think it uses about 1gb of ram on average.

as to the graphics card, all I can tell you is I run it absolutely fine on an intel hd 4000.

hope thats of... hope?!
