nightcraw1er.488: So it's currently 2 yellow cards versus and own goal attempt in the thrilling England v Belgium race to second place. They really need a better system for these occurrences, say winner of the game gets to decide if they want to be first or second, keep it a bit interesting.

tinyE: what happens with a tie?

I mean, I know what happens, but who has the most goals, GA, and fouls?
England win based on yellow cards, 2-5.

Or is that lose based on yellow cards, they top the group anyways.

Could lead to a deadlock between the two groups (i.e. winner of A waiting on winner of B and winner of B waiting on winner of A).
Poor Senegal.

Eliminated by a card.

Was it the first time ever because of circumstance, or is it a new rule?

If I understood correctly, the latter

True, but they need to get some sort of incentive. Anyways, seems someone from Belgium didn't read the pregame briefing, so best of luck with Brazil there.

No. The rule about "card score" being a tiebreaker is not new and has been there for quite some time now in major competitions. This is the first time it got to be used in a world cup.

I stand corrected!

tomyam80: Well, once they knew Peru was ahead aft half-time both teams knew a draw btw them will probably be enough

Cambrey: No way. France wanted to win this match badly with an avalanche of goals, to prove that they are not the huge disappointment that everybody thinks they are, so far anyway. They didn't show up for a draw and neither did the Danish players. For pity, this match was so boring that as far as I'm concerned, it was worse than watching a match with Italy playing. They seriously need to wake up and Deschamps needs to make up his mind or they are going to get their ass kicked by the mediocre Argentina.

That being said, this world cup is a tough one. Underdogs are hungry and the so called big teams are up against a wall. I don't like the match I saw today, but overall I'm enjoying this world cup.
Well, i dun see it that way. France were already thru after gotten 6 pts fr wining the 1st 2 grp matches so they could afford 2 draw or perhaps even lose but i doubt that as they shd prefer 2 top the grp. Denmark on the other hand were not confirm yet so they wld go 4 the win. However, aft halt-time both teams probably knew a draw btw them is enough & thus u dun c as much action. If the opposite were true u wld not be hearing so many talk abt the match being boring already.

U r of cos entitled 2 ur own opinion but i wld say the majority of us wld probably agree that was 1 pretty boring match.

PainOfSalvation: Holy skit, Germany is out of World Cup! O.o
Yeah, as some1 here mentioned: The Champions Curse is apparently very much alive. o_0

Anyway, i think almost no 1 wld expect them 2 lose & the 2 mistakes right @ the end aft 90mins undid them. Call it poetic justice but i actually thought they deserve 2 lose with them under-performing throughout the tournament grp stages as well as the taunting of Sweden aft their win against them. The only exception is the excellent free-kick which gave Germany the win over Sweden near the end of their match. But it sure seems like there is some karma being served with the irony of Sweden topping the grp while Germany ends up on the bottom, lol.

Siegor: There goes one of my favourite teams. Quite impressed with the Korean team though, specially the goalkeeper, he was on point.
Yeah, hv 2 give credit 2 the Korean goal-keeper. He sure made a few fine saves & those saves probably cost Germany their win as well.
I hope that tomorrow Argentina plays a good game. if we lose at least I hope it is in a dignified way and not like when we played against Croatia. Obviously I hope they win and I will encourage them until the end :)
Well that was a cracking start to the last 16!
What a crazy match, now France waits for their next opponent in tonight's match Uruguay - Portugal. Should be another nice match to watch.
