MajicMan: I read the Gabe article and I know that you can possibly, and some/many do, generate more revenue, but that gained revenue is far less profit per user. Thus, the product is still devalued.
As noted, this assumes those sales would have been made at full price, which is patently not the case. If the game was never offered at a discount, then many (likely most) of those sales would never happen, meaning the revenue would be far less than putting the game on sale.

So looking at it from the point of view that the game is devalued because you make less revenue per buyer is somewhat disingenuous. Or... you'd have to consider all of the non-sales as people that value the game at nothing.
Actually I paid almost nothing for The Fall a while back, but that did not stop me enjoying it and I am going to buy the sequel full price on release.
I got Stasis reasonably cheap, but I paid for Cayne deluxe upgrade - despite the game being free otherwise - to show support and promptly contributed to the Beautiful Desolation kickstarter.
I bought Deadlight on discount. I pre-ordered The Sexy Brutale promptly as soon as it was available. I would buy RiME full price as soon as it arrived here.

I think there is a pattern we can see here and it's probably not just me having similar buying habits.

Yes, discounts can devalue some games, but can also increase the future value of upcoming games from developers one already trusts.

Well a bit more than expected:
- Seven Kingdom: Ancient Adversaries
- Myst Masterpiece Edition
- Another World 20th Anniversary Edition
- The Zork Anthology
- The 7th Guest
- Powerslide
- Pirates! Gold Plus
- Settlers 3: Ultimate Collection
- Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice
- Blazing Star
The Long Dark (although it worries me that the game is still in dev and 50% off already). Saw some guy trying to sell Justin Trudeau on it.
Previously : The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (and free Rebel Galaxy)

Now : Saint's Row The Third
Saint's Row IV
Overlord + Raising Hell
To the Moon
A Bird Story
Bad Mojo Redux

Considering for purchase (suggestions and observations are appreciated) :
Zafehouse: Diaries, Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon , Dust: An Elysian Trail / Trine Enchanted Edition ,
Unreal tournament 2004 , Shelter , Octodad: Deadliest Catch , Advent Rising , Both the VTM games ,
Neighbours From Hell , Darksiders , Flatout 2 , Banished

Also between Anno 1701 and Anno 1404 which is a better one?
I logged in to get Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom to keep company to Pharaoh I got last year.
After buying it I saw Children of the Nile and bought that too since I remembered I wanted it, will try that some day.

Also took the free game after looking at some screenshots and not really reading about it even though I have nothing that runs it.

If you are into city builders I highly recommend Banished (and once you are comfortable with the game I would install the Colonial Charter mod, it really enhances the game).

1701 and 1404 are both very good and it's subjective as to the one people will prefer. I would say 1404 is a newer 1701 with a little more complexity to it (the Venice expansion really makes 1404 great)

Yes, Most probably will be getting Banished this time.

It will be hard to decide on the Anno though.

Check your chat, there's a key for 1701 there. You can still get 1404 and try it later, both are worth the play through.

I am just playing through Bloodlines, played Redemprtion years ago. I enjoy(ed) both of them. Considering the sale prices and it being the older game, I would advice going with Redemption.

That's a generous thing to do, Trentonlf.

On topic: Trimming down my wishlist, I indulged on
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Avernum: Escape From the Pit
Blackwell Epiphany, The
Broken Sword: Director's Cut
Omerta: The Japanese Incentive
Praetorians
Time Gentlemen, Please! + Ben There, Dan That!
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

Unfortunately my wishlist also expanded with most of the Zachtronics games....

Probably will be getting both, for if I like the first game, it would be nice if I don't have to wait for a sale to buy the second one.
