It's middle of the summer vacations, so the pace has slowed down a bit. Well, looking at all the promos we're running and the recent releases you can't really say it's "silly season" at GOG.com, but you know what we mean. We decided to take a more in-depth look at the games we've released, especially the ones from Electronic Arts, and chat with some of the developers that made those classics.

Thanks to our own Silencer - Vagabond - we got in touch with Tony Zurovec, the lead designer of Crusader games, and asked him some questions about these awesome classics. As we love getting you involved in pretty much everything we do, we'd like you to ask your questions about Crusader: No Remorse to Tony. We'll pick 5 most interesting ones and forward them to him to get the answers, while the authors of those questions will receive a GOG.com game of their choice(this includes the awesome The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings!). Post your questions in the comments section until end of Sunday, July 24th.
How did the idea of doing the series appeared? It was a completely different project that turned into Crusader or the idea was was well traced since the begining of the development?
It's amazing how much interactivity and choices there are in the environments, yet I think the game would be well-suited towards a Doom or Duke Nukem-style experience. Why did you put so many buttons, doors, security systems, etc. in the game when you could have just kept it simple and made things 'run-n-gun'?
If the Crusader series had lived on what form do you think it would have taken today? Do you think it would still be the way you want the series to be, or do you think that market pressure would have dictated the nature of the series?
My question is rather pretty simple but I'd like to know the answer.

In short: Can you say us something more about character controlled by player from point of view of you as creator?

In long: What and why made you to create this "mysterious man" to be main player character? Who and why had idea to make him (her?) silent? It is often encountered that main character of the game doen not remember his/her past and the player needs to find out more about it. But in Crusader you "just play", doing missions for others. Have you ever planed to reveal more about his (her?) true story, maybe in next, unfinished part of the game?

What made you make Crusader an isometric "top-down" game rather than a first person shooter?
Why isn't there a mission about capturing the smuggler Han Solo and is team? It's should be awsome.
Maybe a DLC? ;)

Thanks for the game!
Thanks gog to promote this piece.

(Is there anychance to have this game in the Summer Hidden Gems?)

1. What inspierd you to make Crusader?

2. Why was Crusader 2 cancelled?

3. What is you're favorite game?
1. Will there be any plans of releasing an Anniversary Edition Crusader?

2. How does it feel to know that people are still willing to pay for your game, even after all these years?

3. How would you describe how good this game is to someone who has never heard of it?

1. What was the rationalization behind the decision to make the Silencer a 'silent' protagonist?
2. The soundtrack for the game is pretty awesome. How much was the artist affected by the game or game development process while making the soundtrack?
3. Was are the influences behind the idea of silencers and the design of their suit?
4. In terms of design, are there any gameplay elements you would really have liked to put in, but had to cut due to technical/time constraints?
Hi Tony!

I would like to know what was the toughest decision you had to make as the lead designer for Crusader: No Remorse and how did it influence the game we have today?

Hi Tony,

Crusader: No Remorse was different from other games. If the current market allowed it, would you consider remaking Crusader: No Remorse, using modern technology?
Hello Mr. Zurovec! I have never played the Crusader: No Remorse, and therefore must ask: What have I missed out on? If your answer makes me feel at least a 7 on the sliding scale of Remorsefulness I will recitfy this situation immediately. (1 = Travelling back in time and accidentally stepping on baby Hitler, 10 = Losing control of your sphincter muscle as you walk your daughter down the aisle to marry her deadbeat boyfriend while being painfully aware that everything your wife said the night she left you was right)
Hi Tony - I'll start by saying that the Crusader games were among my favourites growing up and I've recently been playing through them again - to me they're nothing short of timeless classics.

I'm actually curious as to where you ended up after Crusader - I haven't seen any projects with your name branded on it since. What have you been up to? Are you still involved with the games industry at all? It's almost certainly a markedly different environment from when you first started, but I'm curious as to whether you think the changes have been for better or worse, and have they helped innovation as a whole or stifled it? Related to that, any tips for someone trying to break into the industry? :)

Was the corrupted world economic order inspired by any real life events and if it is the case what did the crusader transpose in the game that you would have liked to see happen in real life in relation to the events?
