Quasebarth: Well The Whispered World got a German language update last week I think on GOG.
Indeed. Last time I checked (which was not long ago), it wasn't there.
The Night of the Rabbit, Memoria and Chains of Satinav on the other hand are, as far as I read, not German because Daedelic does not have the international publishing rights for German on these games. Send an angry letter to DeepSilver and/or Rondomedia concerning this matter.
They got Chains of Satinav on Humble Bundle in German, so I don't think you can blame Deep Silver n this one. Memoria is also available German and DRM-free in the retail version.

I still think it is DeepSilver and Rondomedia. They only worship Steam nowadays. Who knows maybe Daedalic got an agreement from them to offer these games on HumbleBundle without being Steam-exclusive. (Are you sure by the way that apart from the Steamkeys in the Bundle, the DRM-free direct downloads from HumbleBundle were available in German?) At least I think they were against publishing these games in German here on GOG. Hopefully it is a time-limited publishing contract with DeepSilver and Rondomedia, and Daedelic will be able to give us the German version of all their titles sooner or later, like they did with The Whispered World. We will see.

Well, so why don't they get an agreement to release it on GOG.com too? It would obviously be in theif power, if they accept to include them in a PWYW bundle.

Yes. Was a pain in the ass to find that out, but I can confirm that with 100% certainty.

I really don't want to defend Deep Silver (don't know anything about Rondomedia), they are the worst. But I don't think Daedalic is completely blameless here.

Deponia is overrated...

Maybe they got the agreement because it was a very limited offer (a week or two) and here on GOG it would be, well forever I hope. Remember Daedalic does not have the international publishing rights for these relevant games. Daedalic publishing the game on GOG, would mean they suddenly have though.

Maybe they got the agreement because they included Steam-keys.

Maybe they got the agreement because DeepSilver already has connections and experience with HumbleBundle. How many DeepSilver or Rondomedia published games are here on GOG?

I don't know.

Trilarion: Because their game appeared elsewhere on DRM containing and DRM free stores before it will appear here. Would you see this as the behavior of a fine business partner?
avatar
JudasIscariot: Again, we don't have any control in how they wish to sell their games :)
I don't know where I would have said that? It seems like they disregarded GOG for a timely release. I would see this as an expression of ... not love. It's not nice. The original poster then exaggerated and called it hate.

Well, with the release of Goodbye Deponia I guess there is no discussion anymore: Yes, they do.
Ah, Deep Silver is the reason why Risen is still not here?

Edit: And apparently ParaWorld as well!

I suppose so. As well as the Saints Row series, the X series, Sacred 2 and later, Metro, Stalker, Dead Island, and so on and so forth. They bought a good bunch of game-IP's in the closing of THQ. If GOG would get DeepSilver here, we could expect quite a lot of potential games, but it seems DeepSilver are very happy about being Steam-exclusive for now.

I don't think Deep Silver owns S.T.A.L.K.E.R. They published only Clear Sky, and for Call of Pripyat they were only distributer, I think.
They had no involvement at all with Shadow of Chernobyl to my knowledge.

I think the lack of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is more likely attributed by the fact that GSC Game World barely exists anymore.

Nice.

http://store.indiegala.com/index.php/memoria.html
Selling multilingual Steam Keys for Memoria via Indiegala for 19,99 Dollar regular price (now only 12,89$ sale price till tommorrow) is perfectly fine with the big bad Publisher. But offering the german version to GOG for 19,99 Dollar? No way...

Same for Goodbye Deponia, selling it there as a multilingual Steam Key for 17,59$ is fine, but offering this game to the german costumers here for 19,99$?

Now it is "official". It is not about regional pricing, especially for german customers, it is just about just about being [insert random insult] and hating GOG and their customers...

Edit:
Even better: The Mac Version of Goodbye Deponia:
https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/goodbye-deponia/id716707901?mt=12
$10.99
Category: Games
Released: Oct 22, 2013
Version: 1.1.5.3284
Size: 3.44 GB
Languages: English, French, German, Russian

So, what is the real reason for not including the originial german versions here?

Don't you think that they are just not ready to go with DRM-free German language versions of their new games?

That's it, they think German players would pirate their games and that would hurt their sales. That's why they release their games here after a few weeks, and without German language included.

It's nothing about hate, it's just what they believe is good for them.

You mean, they have less faith in the German players, than in the Russian ones?

No, they probably think there's nothing they can do about Russian players, but they think with German players there's still a chance they will buy game instead of pirating it

:P

Actually, German adventure players are very important part of their market, and I think they don't want to risk some of them would lend their GOG copy for their friends etc.

Definitly not. The german retail release of Memoria was drm-free, the german retail release of Goodbye Deponia was drm-free, they are selling their games drm-free at different shops with the german language.

Did I miss the irony or are you serious?
