Side note, I've never been able to get any of the endings where you drive off with one of the characters.

Oh? I managed to drive off with the little girl (Lucy?) once but don't ask me how I did it. I think you can also drive away with the blonde woman. Its weird, I don't think for all of the characters it is predetermined/fixed whether or not they are replicants so that might possibly have an effect.

Never read dune, but do androids dream of electric sheep is indeed my favorite.

If you like Sci-fi at all you should put Dune very high on your list. One reviewer described it as the Lord of the Rings of Sci-fi. The reason I read it was that I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer after playing Westwood's Dune 2 :P
The only unfortunate thing about the book is, contrary to most any other book, it just doesn't quite feel right to read it while it is raining :P

Cool :) it won't disappoint.
Uhm, well seeing as your on gog then maybe : if you feel like doing some retrogaming videogame history - try to play the original dune 2 through dosbox 2/3 levels. Its like the genesis( or rosetta stone rather) of all modern RTS games. The gameplay and graphics have definitely aged quite a bit but it is still absolutely playable, with some amazing ingame gaming art (every building and unit has its own portrait by some artist) There are modern versions but some of them, eg The Golden Path, have done away with some of the art you usually see ingame.
