Sadly no, there aren't, and I somehow doubt that even in dying thrashes that many Japanese companies wouldn't think to consider asking a western company to take over the support, sale, distribution, and maintenance of their older titles.
Too many of the companies of Japan that I'd like to see here are trapped in monolithic, old, and often lethal ways, or are so separated from reality that they may as well be starfish aliens.
I think much of the older people of Japan have to realize that they are not just their isolated island, and that in this day and age, using oceans as an excuse is just going to cause ire.
I really and truly think they are baffled by the concept that there is massive potential money to be made in selling their games as is, without having to retool or add anything new to them. I think Nintendo 'loosely' understands the concept, they just keep striking out in the value department and 'delivering things in a timely matter' department.
For example, Urban Champion wasn't even worth a fiver when it was released, and it certainly isn't now. And Super Mario Bros 3 shouldn't take nearly three years to roll out onto a system. Its a known system, there's no licensing to be had, just drop it. Releasing a game nobody wants is just as bad as skipping the week.
(If you couldn't tell, I'm bitter towards the Japanese and their stance on old games.)
