"Ovary Sandwich" .

Games in general:

1. DRM. Includes online requirement, scanning computer for 3rd party programs or mods, badly managed CD keys which can only be used a limited number of times on one computer.

2. Broken, unobtainable or very difficult trophies, achievements or unlockables.

3. Lack of, removal of or unforgiving save game or save checkpoint systems.

4. The game crashing back to desktop or entire reboot of the computer at any time during gameplay.

1. Permaspawning enemies.

2. Very short or almost non-existent singleplayer campaigns or storylines, with the game focusing almost entirely on multiplayer instead.

3. Bad camera angles.

Adventure games:

1. Very small objects or features which are not highlighted and require a lot of searching up and down, or may even disappear entirely in some playthroughs.

Roleplaying games:

1. Unbalanced character progression vs enemy progression and combat difficulties.

2. Unbalanced or unrewarding quest progression and outcomes.

Strategy games:

1. Unbalanced levels and game difficulty.

Very good list here. From this list one of my biggest complaints is when you level up all of a sudden everyone in the game has leveled up. WTF, are they training on the side??

My most pure pet hates in games these days

1.) Unrealistic Achievements like kill 1,000,000 things in 1 second with a rubber chicken FUCK OFF!
2.) Shitty camera angles while in a car chase scene in game that DO NOT SNAP BACK to the back of the car that makes you crash into every damn obstacle in game (WATCH DOGS!)
3.) Games with unrealistc system requirments (WATCH DOGS!)
4.) Annoying sidequests that if you fail them the game FORCES you to start at the beginning of said quest again (WATCH DOGS)
5.) Useless perks systems (WATCH DOGS)
6.) Unskipable cut scenes (WATCH DOGS)
7.) Games that don't let you map the controls to your preference and FORCE you to use the damn wasd key configuration which hurts my hands!(THE WITCHER/JERICHO/DEAD SPACE/HITMAN 47)
8.) Quick time sequences (Farhenhiet / Indigo prophesy)
9.) No save game feature (ALL CURRENT GAMES)
10.) Stupid checkpoint systems (ALL CURRENT GAMES) A Save anywhere feature would be NICE! LAZY game devs
11.) Games without an AutoSave feature
12.) Games that REQUIRE an INTERNET CONNECTION just so I can play SINGLEPLAYER
13.) MMORPG's I HATE THESE GAMES
14.) Mutliplayer FPS games HL2 deathmatch for example!
15.)Clunky combat Systems (gothic 1)
16.) In some games No clue as to what to do next causing Hours upon hours of frustrating hunting around (Normality)

I just want to remind you that back in the day we had Elite, an entire universe in a floppy disk.

Its not that Watch Dogs has unrealistic requirements, its just that most modern developers can't be bothered to optimize code and then compress said optimizations before further optimizing said compression.

Stupid concepts, especially when combined with bad writing and narration. I'm talking about Civ 5 here. Obviously Civ has always been a highly abstracted vision of human history but the latest iteration has taken it to a whole new level of absurdity.
Oh and I'm out but my sandwich of choice is snot otter on a lightly toasted baguette.

cristigale: I agree. I also hate Adventure games that require needless quick actions. In Starship Titanic, there is a parrot who is holding something you need to proceed. You have to distract the parrot and quickly grab what he is holding. Whether I am just plain slow, poor mechanics, or a combination of both, I never got past this point. At the time, I wanted to finish that game. Instead, I quit in frustration.
Ahh Starship Titanic! If it makes you feel any better there are so many different kinds of frustrating puzzles that few people completed it anyway.

Have you played the old Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy Game? You will randomly make the game unwinnable and only find out hours later.
Somebody needs a chill pill.
I'm in. Thank you.

A lot issues was mentioned. What bother me in games especially with wide historical period that bunch of spearmans and archers can destroy tank/helicopter and also small unit cap size, you're great ruler of #insert country here# and wend to the major battle with another ruler, and both sides have merely about 100 units each other, isn't it laughable? Cossacs and Total War series are good examples where you can have truly big armies.

I hate Adventures or RPGs with Jump'n'Run passages, which require near-to-perfect timing while using ridiculous camera angles. If I want to play a Jump'nRun, I start one in the first place.

Also: unskippable cutscenes.
This!

Ugly armour sets and non-optional helmets, too. I would drop an entire game with beautiful story if the character looks like a hobo :)
(IOvary Sandwich.) I hate flying and or boat missions in a game that isn't really meant for this kind of thing like gta or something. (I think it was san andreas where you need to go through the rings to progress the main story. wtf is that!? It's gta find a pilot hold him at gun point. A lot easier than flying through hoops with a place that either won't fly, or will try to crash you every chance it gets.

Ahhh ARMA1/2 and flying a helicopter or planes. I hate these missions, some of them seem impossible to do with keyboard/mouse. Often you could also walk there and blow things up or use a tank, rather than flying :)

thanks for the giveaway. I already have the game , so Ovary Sandwich

What I can't stand in games ?

Above all : always on DRM, especially the à la Ubisoft implementation. Then regional pricing, especially when the spread is large.

As for the substance of games, I hate arcade games disguised as erzatz flight simulators and zombies themed games. RTS is not my style of game anymore ( the last one I played to the end was Starcraft ...).
Ovary Sandwich but +1 for the GA.

Racing Games: Rubberband AI. It's a shame that this is called AI in the first place. Not many things (in games) are as frustrating as driving a near perfect lap at top speed and the guy that you saw crash like 30 seconds ago suddenly zooms in from behind with 200 mph in his shitty VW Golf. If I'm that good, I want to be rewarded! I want the others so far behind that I can relax and lazily drive to victory. On the other hand, if I mess up - so be it! Don't wait for me! Lap me if I'm that bad - I deserve it.
I really don't see a problem with buildings being out of proportion. O.o
