P1na: That for starters. Other than that, it just look like yet another open city game with a gimmick, and I have saints row for that as I think it's the silliest one around (and I like it silly for these things). Not looking forward to spending 30 hours in repetitive side missions and a not so interesting main story, if I had 30 gaming hours I'd start with a good RPG thank you very much.

Pass.
This too.. I also have SR3, I'm half-way through it, though there are some side-missions that annoy me (like loosing in Genkibowl)... Also I've never finished any of the GTA games either for example... I'll also stick with RPGs and strategy games I guess.
Read a review about it earlier this morning.

The reviewer concluded it not being as good as hoped based upon the hype. He called it a good game, but not as impressive as expected. He doesn't expect it to be the top game it was expected to be.

The hacking part is far from reality. You have to 'open' parts of the map like in Assassin's Creed.
Part of the gameplay like getting from A to B is quite repetitive as you can choose between going in full guns blazing or taking a stealth approach. Weapons and such are easily available as you can hack to get money to buy them.
The interface isn't clear and userfriendly. It took the reviewer 25 hours to notice the ingame phone has a media app which lets you control the soundtrack.

There are a few multiplayer modes, but the reviewer wasn't too impressed about mp. However he did mention there weren't many people online to begin with.
Other players can enter your game and hack you and you can do that to others. That part is optional.

What the reviewer did like was the dynamics of the city and the people and some of the humor of the developers (the reviewer spotted an npc in-game who was sexually attracted to musical instruments). There's also a lot of content in the way of side missions

A patch is too be expected as there are several flaws:
- chased people stop to start a conversation with another npc
- bouncing cars
- moonwalking soldiers
- people looking at you like you're the cause of their problems while they can't know it's you

The reviewer hopes Ubisoft fixes these problems in either a patch or WD2 as the concept has a good potential.

blotunga: U-Play so not interested...
Same here.

This game doesn't appeal to me in any way. I don't see how a GTA clone with 'hacking' can be fun for more than 15 min unless it has great story, characters and script which GTA games and clones never have except Sleeping Dogs, that game is great.
I got it free with the graphics card in my new computer. I've redeemed it, but haven't installed it (I too detest UPlay), so I can't really say much about it.
Upray and I saw a less than inspiring gameplay video awhile back, both of these knocked it off my radar.
Well the game currently has an 82 score on metacritic so it is a good game but not a great one like people were hoping from the hype which is a shame since they delayed the game to "meet the high standards at Ubisoft". Still can't beat the king of open world games GTA, they didn't do much with the aspects that make Watch Dogs unique according to the reviews that I have skimmed through it seems.

I sleeping dogs that good? I've got it for some reason, but I haven't so much as installed it yet. And maybe now is the time to check it out.

They've hyped it so much even I have heard of it, and that's saying quite a bit. There is simply no way a game will live to a hype like that.

Sleeping Dogs is awesome and real fun to play with a good story to boot. Give it a go, you won't regret it especially if you're a fan of Hong Kong Kung Fu and cop movies. :)

I'm sure it's a cool game, what i'm not so sure about though is that my machine would run it decently.
And it's also quite expensive for me right now.

I'm not a fan of Hong Kong though. I think it's the only city I've ever been in from which I really wanted to get out of, and fast.
I was so hyped about Watch Dogs. What I see from reviews, it's only good while it was expected to turn out spectacular...

Very interesting review:

I can't guarantee that you will like it but I can say as much that I have tried playing almost every modern GTA game released, some of them repeatedly, and never could get into them, but Sleeping Dogs really hooked me and I spent all sunday playing it and that happens very very rarely with me.

Which you can do in Sleeping Dogs, you can get out of anywhere as fast as you want ;). The game actually does make fun of the eccentricities of Hong Kong similar to the way GTA does, so if you recognize the annoying things about it then there is a lot to enjoy. Besides you can put anyone that really pisses you off in the trunk of a car and drive off. :P

I think a big reason for my dislike of Hong Kong is that it looks nothing like Deus Ex's Hong Kong. Normally that should make me like Deus Ex less, yet somehow it made me dislike Hong Kong. How could it have no cannals? (I would have gone on during daytime, of course).

And the outskirst were quite OK, I went to visit someone living on a fisher village and that area was a lot nicer than the city. But whatever. I'll give it a go when I have time.
I'll wait for the first "unhyped" reviews. Watch_Dogs looks interesting, but has one or two quirks that could ruin the game completely!

First: You can't jump... In my eyes, that's simply lazy game design. Dev 1: "But what do we do if the player simply jumps over the guard rail?" Dev 2: "Uhm...? We just don't allow him to jump!" -.- Sorry, that's crap. Especially in a GTA clone. I'll have to watch a couple of gameplay videos to see how they've done this.

Second: Hacking. Hacking? Yes, hacking! It's a huge part of the game and looks like "Press X to hack everything within two seconds." At least that's what every video looked like. I'm not so sure if I'm going to like that. I mean... How does it work? Can you fail? And if so: Why? How does the game decide if a hack is successful or if you failed to hack something? You don't have stats and skill points and other RPGish stuff. And you can't fail to press X...

I'm not a friend of quick time events or stupid "connect the wire" minigames. But... A game that is about hacking, shouldn't make the hacking a "Press X" event. This doesn't sound right. Racing game? "Press X to hit the apex." Shooter? "Press X for headshot." Beat 'em up? "Press X for fatal combo."

Let's see how they did it. If they did it well, I think I'll get Watch_Dogs during it's first sale (even if it's just 25% off), because €60 ($82) is definitely too expensive.
