Do I like MMOs? Not particularly. I didn't despise them though until I tried WOW. Everquest was okay for what it was. Ultima Online was interesting at least. The only MMO that I've ever actually enjoyed, however, was TES Online. No, the quests in WOW were terrible, it was horredously boring, the community was full of complete morons that, it seemed, had never played a role playing game in their lives, many unfriendly people, and the game was just hideous beyond measure that it practically hurt my eyes. The combat was the worst system I'd ever tried. Although I felt that way about Everquest as well, since WOW's combat system was completely unoriginal, which just made it that much worse.

I could go on and on, but as I said before, I don't want to rant, just share my opinion of the worst game ever.

Personally, I loved Bioshock. It wasn't as good as System Shock 2, but better than every other game on the 360. I did not like the PC version, however. But I was surprised they were able to do so much with an 8 year old engine. The atmosphere and pacing of the game were what made it so fantastic. It was much more of an atmospheric first person adventure game with a unique combat system than a first person shooter. However, I can see why some people didn't like it. The harder difficulty levels were too combat focused, as were the skills.

Marcomies: (hating on Sid Meier's glorious gift to humanity)
You really should have started the series with Civ 2 or 3, or Alpha Centauri. Civ 4 and 5 had many changes to the core systems, however they were needed in order to provide a fresh experience to everyone that had played thousands of hours of the first 3 games. If you were new to the series with 4 or 5, I certainly understand why you didn't get into them.

They are still very good games, because they force you to use different strategies than the rest of the series. Those strategies, however, feel forced and unintuitive. However, the change was needed, as I said above, to give players of the previous games a new experience.

I really hope that with Civ 6, they will go back to a rule-set similar to 2 and 3. I'm also looking forward to Beyond Earth, however it appears to be a similar rule set as Civ 5.

I have played Bioshock infinite on 360 and found it to not be to my liking. I did finish it and was not overly impressed, but I digress. I have never played any of the other Bioshocks and was wondering if was really worth trying them or are they like the last one. You seemed to have a good opinion on them so was wondering what you think. I do have them both for PC, neither for console. (I'm hoping you have played the last one too)
I did not like Bioshock 2 at all, as it was all about combat (the hard-core console gamers didn't really dig the first Bioshock because it wasn't all about fast-paced combat). But Bioshock 1 and Infinite are actually spiritual successors of the System Shock franchise, made by the same team of people. I haven't beaten Infinite yet, but my main criticism of Bioshock 1 on the PC is that it is a simple console port, not optimized at all for mouse and keyboard, nor taking advantage of the increased raw power available to the superior system. That criticism does not apply to Infinite.

I would recommend skipping Bioshock 2, and moving straight to Infinite. If you're not enjoying yourself after the first couple hours, than just skip it. But I did really enjoy the atmosphere, gameplay, and story that I've seen so far (only about 8 hours of play). The game has been very lovingly crafted, and experienced a prolonged development to ensure the product would be the best one yet. The creator of the franchise was very involved in its production, and you can play it at your own pace (much like Bioshock and more-so than System Shock 2).

If you have a powerful machine, you can stare off in awe at the marvelously rendered scenery as well.

I kind of agree with you there. Well, WOW is 10 years old, so, yeah, there are better MMOs around by now. However, taking into account how awful most MMOs are (especially Korean MMOs), i still think WOW is a pretty decent game. I definitely enjoyed it.

About the community part. Well, i can't complain about the server i'm playing on. People have always been pretty helpful. Of course i didn't try making a new character on a PvP server because that's suicide. There are always assholes "camping" noob areas for easy kills on these kind of servers.

I think that one of the reasons why WOW is still so popular after 10 years is because of the end game content. I haven't reached end game (and probably never will), but from what i know WOW is still one of the best MMOs around when it comes to end game content. There are so many raids and group dungeons that there's always stuff to do. That's exactly the reason why The Old Republic is so criticized: once you reach end game there's nothing else to do.

I never got into Everquest to be honest, don't know why, but Ultima Online is still the best MMO i have ever played. And from what i have seen it looks like MMOs will get back to their sandbox roots (like Ultima Online) and move away from the "themepark" formula made popular by WOW. Everquext Next, H1Z1 (or something like that), Albion Online will all be sandbox MMOs.
I hate RTS TBS games tedious ass Mouse click fest!

I hate theme park although I like theme park world?

Heavy Rain. I don't have PS3, but I was so hyped about this game I asked a friend to invite me for a session (he played the game before, liked it and made me expect something really great)... Well, it was very disappointing. It was simply one long QTE fest with one of the most unlikeable protagonists I've ever played as (I'm talking about Ethan; Norman and Scott were pretty fun but they were more like supporting cast).
And the story started to feel familiar at one point. Near the end I realized: Saw III. Almost the same plot...

I'm glad to see someone else hated Civilization too....

I had times when I even enjoyed playing the game, but a few of the more ridiculous battles kind of grated me (I mean really? A Phalanx defeating Tanks? Couldn't you just run them the fuck over? Why even waste Ammo?)

Then there is that great AI that has every enemy seemingly build cities straight at you. ( Even MOO does this, I guess boxing you in is a standard AI tactic)

But the REAL game-breaker for me is that the earlier you kill EVERYBODY else, the better your score will be. To me, you should be penalized for wiping out other factions and get the BEST score for finishing the space ship quickest... after all, that's harder. So unbeatable score? Sure, small land mass, build a chariot, cheat and save before every attack, kill everyone with that one chariot. Ba-Da-Bing!
I believe Alpha Centauri had the same fatal flaw as well.
Half-Life 2 first comes to mind but there are probably more.
System Shock, 1 and 2. I just dont see the appeal. I get the feeling its more about people recalling it being much better than it was, perhaps wonderful for its time but now cliche.
Mass Effect, perticularly 2. It was all just shooting skirmish after shooting skirmish, no variety.

Just did not impact my gaming life.
Deus Ex 1

Sorry, just my opinion...

What is called 'total freedom of action' is just an illusion of freedom with choices in micro-situations, such as the possibility to enter a room using different techniques. Apart from that, the progression is linear and guided. All skills must be developped in a balanced way. All I remember from the game is breaking crates to collect small items again and again. The gameplay is extremely repetitive, as well as the graphics, which are square, grey and boring. New York, Hong-Kong and Paris are not that different, only a few textures change. The plot is dull, too. This story has already been seen in so many videogames and movies (MI2...).

While many games are reproached with being too short, I found this one neverending. After each important event, I expected the game to end, ignoring I was only halfway through the game.

The game has qualities though. But it's no fun.
Well, I don't actually *hate* any games. That being said, I don't understand the appeal of GTA series and the likes.

^This. GTA has abolutely no appeal to me at all (well, except maybe GTA 1 and 2 :)
I don't hate these games, I found them mediocre (ranging from 5 to 8 out of 10):

- Call of Duty (4 I think), I uninstalled it after 10 minutes
- GTA all 3s and 4. Not bad games, great potential but boring. I didn't care about those irish gangsters, I had lot of money, why did I have to do all those nasty stuffs (threatening people, shoot them, rob banks)? Overrated. How could GTA 5 get billions $, I don't understand.
- Halo.
- System Shock 2, I couldn't get into it. I hated the monster respawn. I might give it another try.
Gears of War. I thought it was terrible. I wanted to like it, but it refused to be enjoyable in anyway for me.
