Wow, why the hate for Bioshock? Thats one of my favorite games of all time. :|

For me its Star Wars The Force Unleashed. I beat that whole game with the most rage you will ever see in me.

Have you played System Shock 2?
I personally don't hate BioShock, but it was a HUGE disappointment. Just a dumbed down version of System Shock 2.

And seeing BioShock 2 is nothing but a glorified expansion pack, and won't be buying any more "Bio" products....hmm, maybe there is something in that Bio bit....

Another game I want to add is FABLE series. Talk about insulting your players/customers. The game gets dumber and easier for each edition that comes out! Fable 3 is just pathetic! You can get by every battle throughout the game just by pressing ONE button.

Fahrenheit. Only game I truly hate.

I didn't get Thief, was a bit bored by Dragon Age and thought Bioshock was a pretty substantial failure, but... well, I don't hate any of these games. Not by a long shot.
Oblivion.

The general design and all the bugs are a major issue.

I totally forgot about Fable! (forgettable fucking series) The thing about Fable that always gets to me, is how Peter Molyneux talks up each release with the promise of all these "groundbreaking" new features... and follows through on NONE of them. It's hilarious. It's like you're paying $60 for a lie.

Odd. I love action-RPG's and although I had a friend once that played a lot of Fable, I had never really heard much about it. I recently bought an old Xbox so I picked up Fable for $5, and I've found it thoroughly enjoyable, enough so that I purchased Fable: TLC. Do the sequels not hold up, or did I just miss out on the hype that made it so regrettable?

(on a side note, sorry, this is completely off-topic).
Beyond Good and Evil. Practically everyone seems to praise it for it's inventiveness and uniquity but I can never see it as anything else than a sloppy Zelda clone where an overly sexualized teenage girl saves the world and angsts like an average JRPG character. I simply can't fathom what's supposed to make it so special.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Ok, I agree that the story and athmosphere are good, even excellent at times. But there must be something very profoundly wrong with the writing if you have to spend 10+ hours running around LA doing menial fetch quests just in order to get to the warehouse you were ordered to destroy in the FREAKING INTRO MOVIE. Not to mention that despite all the fancy scheming and plotting during the dialogue, most of the game boils down to hitting people in the face with pointed sticks (or just sucking their blood out of them). The sewer level is definitely one of the worst levels I've played in any game, ever.

Taken as they are, they're not horrible games. It is mostly the hype surrounding them that pissed me off. I mean there are features that were promised to be in the first one over 5 years ago, that haven't even been implemented in the sequels. I'd find references, but I really don't feel like it ;)

The hype. Peter Molyneux promised everything for Fable, including the kitchen sink. Nothing could have lived up to the hype that he created. It was a fun game though.
no offense, but i don't like the new indie hit

Super Meat Boy? Who could hate that cuddly bloody slab of meat?

And I hate Final Fantasy VII. It is so ridiculously stupid plot-wise, yet everyone always praises it.

TheCheese33: Super Meat Boy?
nope
guess again
The game I hate the most in the history of gaming was also one of the most highly respected games of the last decade (or so it seems) and that's Braid. It was horribly pretentious and just pissed me off to no end that I wasted 15 bucks on a game that basically said "if you don't find me to be deep and meaningfull, you're an idiot".

Filthgrinder: So, what game(s) can't you stand or hate, but for some reason "everyone" loves it / them?

For me it has to be the Halo series. I just can't stand that game at all. The whole environment of the game just seems so fake and "toy" like. It's as if everyone is running around with plastic guns going "pew pew".
The community also seems real bad, full of little kids talking smack, and cussing.

Also I HATE the Grand Turismo series. People seem to worship that game, but I just find it to be a massive advertisement game pay by the corporations to sell cars etc. Just the fact you can't crash you cars makes me laugh at the fact that they have the balls to call it a "simulator".
Starcraft.
....or any RTS besides Red Alert, Company of Heroes, and Warcraft III, which I enjoyed.
I just don't like the genre in general.
