El_Caz: Most MMO's. It's not like I hate them but even if I've played demos of a couple, they fail to pull me in and I can't help seeing them for the grinds they are. They feel like work, a work you PAY to get every month instead of get paid for doing.

Also, the fact that I'm not overly social online makes the genre fail for me. I love being able to save and come back to my games on a whim (or on the wife's whims) so I always lean towards single player games or short multiplayer matches where it doesn't rally matter if you drop out (like in Unreal Tournament).
/\ this, just replace wife with fiance

Rohan15: Gears of War.
Blasphemy! It's okay, most of my friends hate it too, and give me shit for loving it so much ;)
Myst and every damn variate of Myst... also Ever single Stratagie game ever created in all of history... I used to be good at Star Craft, when the idea was to create a base, scout out an area sgtart a 2ndary base before you lay siege....

now its all build memory and rushing.... there is noting else...

I once won for a month straight cause i built a easy to follow macro to build after getting decimated for a few weeks... it was so easy after that to just use math and map placement luck of the draw to win no matter what... AKA a brainless imp could win if they know the right build order...

I pretty much hate all multiplayer games, dont understand whay anyone would play them... ON the flip side, i really enjoy playing multiplayer with average Bots, i can hold my own but not overpower them for a perfect challenge..
Oblivion - It was like someone had hit Ctrl-V a hundred thousand times and called it a game.

KOTOR 2 - Sorry, but no community patch is going to save that game from its obvious twists, nonsensical plot and utterly, utterly tedious quests. It was hellishly unbalanced too. But that should go without saying.

Halo - Just bland. I didn't hate it but it sure as hell didn't capture my imagination.

Maybe if I hadn't played Morrowind first it would have been more enjoyable in its own right. But the far more generic fantasy world, the lack of lore, the two voice actors and their three lines between them... yeah. Not good. The whole 'world levels up with you' crap also made it seem futile. Not that I want a character to become godike. But there are better ways of working it out without undoing your efforts at every turn.

But at least it had a much better interface and combat.

It was a bit more console orientated. That's something they should have worked on. After all the only real difference between the PC and Xbox version of Morrowind was the interface.

But at least you don't have to dig through a bloody diary to find quest notes.
In my opinion, the adventure game genre was born from the limitations of PCs in the late 80's and early to mid 90's. A lot of great ideas were impossible to turn into games back then, but something that was possible was to make games that only featured a few moving characters, static backgrounds and talking. Adventure games, in other words.
However, with the advancement of computer technology, adventure games should have died. There are much better ways to tell stories through games nowadays. And I absolutely hate that the genre will not die, and let other and better genres tell their great stories.
But which game genres do you think are better at telling stories? Some of us have terrible reflexes and hand-eye coordination, so if you put a great story in a game that involves shooting or combat or driving, like Deus Ex or Grand Theft Auto, we just can't play it. I'll grant that some RPGs are good at telling stories and aren't too combat-heavy, but sometimes I don't want to bother with micromanaging my character stats--it can feel a little mundane and detract from the main story.

I think the whole "exploration and lots of dialogue" aspect of adventure games is tailored to a certain kind of person--a person who prefers to play a game at a leisurely pace and isn't good at action elements--rather than to a certain kind of computer.
How about the forced melee combat and platform jumping at the end of Risen? KILLED the game, totally KILLED the game....
Final Fantasy VII

The dialogue seems to be written by children, especially when compared to the western RPGs I'm used to, like any one of BioWare's. I didn't find the gameplay to be too outstanding either. I mean, it's definitely not a bad game, but I don't get all this 'BEST RPG EVER!' hype around it.
I find TF2 pretty boring a lot of the time. It certainly has a lot more character than many other multiplayer FPSes out there, but I inevitably find myself yawning after a half an hour, for some reason.

Also, grind-heavy MMOs like World of Warcraft irritate me. I could endure the grind in Runescape when I was seven years old and had much more patience than I do now. Today, though, I don't see the point of playing them. Unless it's the social side, or high-level raid content or something (which they feel some need to hide behind hundreds of hours of repetitive clicking and hotkeying), I just don't see the point. Both of these experiences I can find elsewhere, and more enjoyably.

This. I waited almost ten years to pay $50 for my copy, and I still can't get into it. FFXII, for all its flaws, is far more engaging, and it's said by many to be one of the worst.
I'm probably going to be skewered for this, but uh...Deus Ex.

Having put several hours into it (a lot, trust me), I just can't see the hype behind it. The story was uninteresting, the voice acting was borderline horrendous, and it bored me to death. It's certainly not a terrible game, just not as remarkable as I had hoped it would be.

Kaidane: borderline horrendous
Only borderline?
Hmm, not really hate, but... CODs, Baldur's Gate, GoW's, 3D versions of Prince Of Persia, Assassin's Creed 1 [the second one was less boring, which saved it a bit], Bioshock [spiritual suck'ass'or i'd say], Civ 5, Halo, most console games out there, StarCraft, WarCraft 3, MMOs, RTCW:Enemy Territory, GTA:SA, Quake 3 Arena, Crysis.. and a sh@tload of others.

[edit]
Oh yeah, since Civ5 is here, so should be Oblivion and Fallout 3. Bug Vegas got saved by the writing.

[edit2]
Oh yeah, Mario's, MGS's, Final Fantasies...

Borderline in the sense that it was at least intelligible. For the most part.
