grviper: BTW, the new bundle in itself isn't without issues. Repeated games, higher Steam key price...
The only reason games are repeated this time is because it's a developer-specific bundle.

As for the Steam keys, I don't really have a problem with that. For all of the complaining about "devaluing games", shouldn't you be in favor of NOT letting someone buy a Steam key for three games for a buck?

If you don't spend $5, you still get three great games. You just don't get extra Steam copies. I don't have a problem with that.
Saw the bundle and figured I would see how the community is taking it. Sadly, can't say I am surprised (real "classy" guys...). Jesus Rodriguez Christ guys, the GameFAQs forums behave themselves better than this. How about, rather than acting like a bunch of angry toddlers, you stay calm and rational?
To the people who are making purchases that are purely to charity and/or not acting like this is the end of the world and itching to drop a Godwin-bomb: Good on you.
To the people who are running around and cursing like someone pooped in their cornflakes: Way to reinforce the stereotype.

Is it kind of a dick-move to do a pay-what-you-want the second the game is released? Sure, but it is no different than a lot of "Pay what you want" deals. Or a lot of early sales, for that matter.

And to everyone screaming they got ripped off (or, as pointed out in the other angry thread: Roman who would only be angry if he DID get ripped off and is clearly super happy right now when he has not been affected in the slightest...): You bought the game at whatever price point you paid. Clearly you feel the game was worth it at that price point, or you would not have purchased it. What is the problem? Did the entertainment:moneys ratio somehow go down because other people are going to enjoy it for cheaper?
If so, god forgive anyone who actually paid for Tyrian. That AMAZING game is now the worst investment ever because 10 or so years later it is free!

WBGhiro: Which actually devalues machinarium here on GOG even more. Wow.

I don't know if they did this on purpose or if someone really didn't think things through, on both sides.
Oh, please. Machinarium has been in two other Humble Bundles and has been in countless sales on Steam and other download sites. There's nothing being "devalued" there, and it's not some conspiracy against GOG that a game that's been on sale in the past went on sale again.

bazilisek: Here's a taste of the English dub of Kooky.

I can't judge how this is going to sound to native speakers. To my ears, it's kind of painful.

ABH20: Roman5 is just a little mad.
avatar
bazilisek: Oh dear, and his capitalisation issue is getting worse, too.
Yeah, it's definitely the first time dubbing for some of those actors. I only listened for 2 minutes or so, though.

Roman5 is a bit ranty. It's not doing GOG any favors to be going over there and harassing people like that.

Honestly, I think the Humble Bundle guys were really pushing it - there's been talk before about how they really play hardball (I can't imagine it's *very* hardball, but from an indie perspective I imagine regular business seems like total cutthroat piracy), and they are a fairly big name in indie gaming at the moment. With the viral marketing campaign they're embarking on it's understandable that they would try to pull the rug out from under GOG right now.

Thanks for this post.

QC: Sure, THAT won't backfire any. Let's see how long it takes for the regulars to jump on that.

wodmarach: my god they left this one up and deleted much less offensive ones up wtf???
Maybe because the more reasonable posts would make them look bad, while something like this just makes the poster look bad.

Pheace: Still, offering your game in a humble bundle is hardly a horrible thing to do in itself. Just the timing is off for people's peace of mind right now :)

OmegaX: Nobody is complaining about the game being on a humble bundle, people are complaining about it being on a humble bundle today, on release day, and after offering preorders for the game. It's all about the timing not the humble bundle in itself.
Hell, I'm the first one to say that you shouldn't feel ripped off if a game goes on sale and you payed full price on release because you had the game before the people that bought it on sale and you had time to get your money's worth from it. Botanicula was released today, nobody has played it and gotten their money's worth from it but it is already selling for one cent. That's what ticks people off.
Plus, GOG.com didn't even know about the bundle:

Cunning stunt by Amanita part.
roman5 has disgraced the gog community with such stupidity , jeez roman5 go ahead show your childish behavior but why drag gog into it , i hope he is warned severely for this :X , no one wants to think the whole community is like this, im sure gog staff are working out something to help out the people who pre ordered

Or, you know, the Humble Bundle people, who are trying to launch a DRM-free indie gaming store at exactly the time as GOG announced they were bringing on indie games.

Leroux: I already own Machinarium and Samorost 2 and have no interest in Steam versions, so if Kooky and Windosill are rather meh, I'll just buy Botanicula from GOG and then get the soundtrack for 1-3 dollars of charity from HIB. Any thoughts?
I'm in the same situation and I can't understand HIB here. I don't know how often HIB2 with Machinarium and Samorost 2 was later added as bonus, but I'm sure many folks already got them thanks to older bundles. With the bonus materials at the moment it ends up selling only one game - Botanicula. I really can't believe this bundle will go well.

Personally I will wait and see if they add something else. It would be my first humble bundle I would pass, so maybe I will do the same like you - 1-3$ to charity.

His intention is good. Can't deny that. It's just he got his method wrong.

Cunning stunt by a stunning c...

That's what Amanita looks like in this.

Had the bundle come in, say, 6 months, nobody would complain. But today? Poor form.
