My Chatlog copy-pasted from the Humble Bundle support

Me: Hello, Why couldn't you for this bundle give the option to Unlock Botanicula and Machinarium on GOG.COM?
Adam M: Hi
Adam M: We would love to partner with gog and other services
Adam M: like them
Adam M: Steam however is very generous with indie developers, and our game developers like to work with Steam
Adam M: But you never know who we'll be partnering with in the future
Me: Alright then, thank you for your answer, I Really Hope you will have the opportunity to redeem keys on GOG.COM in the future, thanks again and have a great day!
Adam M: For sure
Adam M: A lot of GOG requests!

Why would it matter if the keys unlocked here? It would still generally mean a pretty massive loss of overall sales.

And people like paying more for steam keys, which basically means they like paying for DRM. Can you imagine? :)

Leroux: Almost Human offered a better deal for LoG in the Humble Store,
As far as I can tell, the difference between buying from them directly and from GOG was that if you buy through them, you get a steam key and the ability to download the game from humble. So in the end it was a matter of choosing between which service you prefer, you did not get a better deal by ordering directly from them (unless you consider having two locations to download from a better deal).

Because when you get a DRM free game already, you're really going to be in the mood to register an account just to unlock another DRM free version of the download?

... is this a joke?
Is it a joke that we get a MOVIE now for paying more than the average?
And why is that average already so high?

keeveek: Apparently, GOG.com is not a good place for indie games, when indie devs treat it this way.
Yeah, that may be true, depending on how much they have to invest to acquire the games. Still, I'm kind of glad that indie devs don't strike exclusive deals, not even with GOG. I dislike Steam-exclusive deals so it would be hypocritical of me to support GOG-exclusives. For the customers, choice is a good thing, IMO.

Harsh for GOG.com and the people who pre-ordered, but a fairly noble charity should do very well out of it.

What a mess.

Meh .
This is a pretty mean backstab, imho.

Not only to GOG, but also to everyone who preordered, thinking they'd get the best deal.

I know it's free market and charity and all, but still.

You're right, but someone might be interested what is GOG.

I know, but I'm just curious about the people that want it unlocked on GOG for themselves. It seems to be fostering the rabid collector fanboyism that is generally associated with Steam.
From GOG's Facebook - "Hey everyone; we just found out about the Humble Amanita Bundle. We're not sure exactly what yet, but we're going to come up with something for everyone who preordered Botanicula on GOG.com. Stay tuned and we'll try to come up with something tomorrow"
